The biggest thing you need to know about Witch King is that it is very different from Murderbot. If you are hoping for a fantasy version of Murderbot you will be disappointed. The tone is different, the humor, when it exists, is dryer, the scope is different, and the violence is dialed waaayyy up. However, on its own merits, Witch King is a complex, interesting fantasy novel that keeps two timelines moving and introduces a group of allies who gel into a found family.
Happy Tuesday! September is looking pretty strong for new releases. I placed a bunch of preorders last month and I had to talk myself down to only five. What’s on your radar this week? Let us know in the comments!
Consort of Fire by Kit Rocha is $1.99! This is book one in Bound to Fire and Steel fantasy romance series. Book two is also on sale. Have you read either book? What did you think?
The Soldier’s Scoundrel by Cat Sebastian is $1.99! This is a gay historical romance with class differences, which readers seemed to really love in terms of the pairing. However, other reader mention having some problems with the book’s pacing.
The Undermining of Twyla and Frank by Megan Bannen is $2.99! This is book two in the Hart and Mercy series and we loved book one. This newest release came out over the summer. Did any of you pick this one up?
Bookshop Cinderella by Laura Lee Guhrke is $3.99! This is book one in a series that started in Summer 2023. Book two in the series came out this summer. The heroine is a bookshop owner and this has some Pygmalion vibes.
Happy Tuesday! For those in the States, I hope you enjoyed the long weekend and prepped your TBR for today’s releases. (Or at least enjoyed the time, however you chose to spend it!) Lots of fantasy and paranormal titles this week on our radar. What books are you excited for? Let us know in the comments!
Second Night Stand by Fay Stetz-Waters and Karelia Stetz-Waters is $2.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! Shana recently gave this a B-:
Ultimately, this is a steamy sapphic romance where the love story easily overshadows the reality tv competition. Both heroines start the book feeling afraid other people will see their flaws, and I loved the themes of healing, being loved for your true self, not making work your whole life, and finding a new path to happiness.
How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang is $2.99! This released in April and was mentioned in Hide Your Wallet. I believe Kuang is the one adapting and directing Emily Henry’s Beach Read as well.
Incense and Sensibility by Sonali Dev is $2.99! It’s book three in Dev’s Rajes series, which is full of Jane Austen retellings. Dev’s books can get pretty emotional, so I suggest checking content warnings.
Hide those wallets because March is ending with a bang! On average, I feel like we have 6-7 books between all of us that we’re looking forward to in a release week. This week, we’re at eleven! And the start of April is looking equally as busy. What new releases are you excited for this week? Let us know in the comments!
