We are chugging along this month and getting closer and closer to some big release toward later in the month. I’m sure they’re on some of y’all’s TBR piles! This week’s releases for us skew more toward fantasy and mystery. We also have a couple historical romances for good measure! What books are you looking forward to this week? Tell us in the comments!
In this week’s podcast episode, we’re looking at the advertisements and features inside the June 2014 issue of Romantic Times, aka RT Book Reviews. We’ve got So Many Small Presses that no longer exist, plus some really, really weird feet. Yup, feet! You can also find all the RTRW content at our category page for Romantic Times Rewind. And, most importantly, if you want to listen and follow along with this entry, we have more … Continue reading Romantic Times Rewind: June 2014 Ads and Features! →
RECOMMENDED: All Systems Red by Martha Wells is $1.99! I think everyone at SBTB HQ who has read these books has absolutely loved them, myself included. Sarah in particular has been re-reading them consistently. I recommend her squee-filled review of Network Effect.

Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater is $2.99! This is book one in the Regency Faerie Tales series and subsequent books in the series were listed in latest Hide Your Wallet. There’s another YA vs. Adult debate for this one as well. I believe there is no sexual content in this one.

If you’re new to Hide Your Wallet, this is where we list new releases we’re pretty excited for in the coming month. Each reviewer has a book maximum (five per person), and we’ve separated HYW into two parts. The first HYW of the month will cover books that release from the 1st to the 14th. The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading January 2023 New Releases, Part One →
RECOMMENDED: It Happened One Autumn by Lisa Kleypas is $1.99! This is book two in the Wallflowers series and is my favorite of the bunch. I have a weakness for brash meets stuffy pairings!

All the Feels by Olivia Dade is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance and the second book in the Spoiler Alert series. It was also just recommended by Shana in our recent Rec League on Book-Long Grovels.

To Love a Scandalous Duke by Liana de la Rosa is 99c at Amazon! It’s available elsewhere, but not at the sale price. This one has a hero out for revenge, which can be a pretty divisive trope on whether readers love it or hate it. It’s also the first in a series.

RECOMMENDED: For the Love of April French by Penny Aimes is 99c! I didn’t review this one here, but I did for another site. I loved this one so much. It was so sweet and tender. I’d say this is more of a character-focused BDSM romance, than one that has a ton of BDSM scenes. I gave it a star over at Bookpage.

Broken by Jenny Lawson is $3.99! A couple of use here at SBTB have really loved Lawsons’ previous two memoir collections and this is her third, which came out this April. Humor can certainly be subjective. If you’re tempted by this one, but are unsure if her voice will work for you, she has a long-running blog: The Bloggess.

Jane Eyre is in my top ten favorite books and I’m very protective of it. I wrote a short book called Pride Prejudice and Popcorn: TV and Film Adaptations of Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, and Jane Eyre, in which I concluded that any adaption can work as long as it stays true to the themes and characters of the source material. The Wife Upstairs is hard to review because how it works on its … Continue reading The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins →
