For those of you who don’t know, Rachel passed away over the weekend. Some sort of virtual memorial is slated to be announced.
The Devil of Downtown by Joanna Shupe is $1.99 at Amazon! This deal may expire soon, considering it’s not price-matched. My main gripe with this series is that the three sisters have an awful, sexist dad. The books kind of overlap in terms of a timeline, so you get to experience the dad in all of his shittiness three times around.
Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh is $2.99! This is the very first book in the Psy-Changeling series and for many readers, it’s what kicked off their love for Nalini Singh. However, other readers mention that the oomph of the book seemed to wane once the hero and heroine got together. But I personally loved it and the series just gets better and better. Any Psy-Changeling fans out there?
Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen is 99c! This is book one in the Brooklyn Bruisers series about a hockey team. Both Elyse and I have enjoyed books in this series, though I think we both agree that the second book, Hard Hitter is our favorite. Readers loved the second chance romance in this book, but found the pacing in the first half a bit slow.
Once a Rebel by Mary Jo Putney is $1.99! This is the second book in the historical romance Rogues Redeemed series. It’s also a friends to lovers romance! Readers enjoyed the setting of the War of 1812, but others found the conflicts were too easily solved.
Brooklynaire by Sarina Bowen is 99c! This contemporary romance is the fourth book in the Brooklyn Bruisers series. Though this could be reads as a standalone, readers say there’s a lot of build up to this romance in the previous books. It has a 4.2-star rating on Goodreads.
Cotillion by Georgette Heyer is $2.51 at Amazon and $2.99 elsewhere! It’s also part of a huge $2.99 Heyer sale in honor of her birthday! This has a fake relationship trope and was recently the inspiration for a Rec League on unassuming heroes. Readers who love beta heroes and low-key, relaxed romances might love this one. However, some readers mention that the first quarter of the book takes some effort to get through.
RECOMMENDED: Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy is a Kindle Daily Deal for $1.99! The deal is also being matched by most vendors. I mentioned this book on a previous Whatcha Reading. I highly recommend this book, especially if you love Dolly Parton. It’s funny and emotional, and the struggles Willowdean faces as a “self-proclaimed fat girl” will relate to many who suffered from those awkward teen years. Seriously, get this book.
Paper and Fire is the second book in the series The Great Library by Rachel Caine, and it is AMAZEBALLS. I just gobbled it up (figuratively).
