It’s really good teen angst, and the fantasy aspect and the romance is perfection. It was so poignant, it really spoke to my soul, and I had good book sigh
The Bad Luck Bride by Janna MacGregor is 99c! Sarah had the author on as part of a previous live podcast taping at RT and I found it fascinating. Some readers expressed confusion in how the overall plot unfolded, but others really loved the heroine and her cursed luck.
Empire of Wild by Cherie Dimaline is $1.99! This a price-matched Kindle Daily Deal and a book I mentioned in Hide Your Wallet over the summer. Indigenous horror is having a moment and I’m definitely on board. I’d say this is more tense and suspenseful and eerie, rather than flat out scary. Your mileage may vary!
In case you missed it: I know last Hide Your Wallet we instituted some changes. Well now we have more, thanks to the comment left by Katie C. A lot of you expressed wanting to keep the wide breadth of new releases and Katie’s suggestion was pretty great. We’re still keeping our book maximums (five per person), but have added an extra HYW post per month, allowing another five books per person. The first HYW … Continue reading January’s New Releases, Part Two→
A Fashionable Indulgence by KJ Charles is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal. This is a m/m historical romance about class differences. Readers loved the start to a new series, though some felt the romance took a backseat to setting up the next books. It has a 3.9-star rating. Charles fans, what’d you think of this one?
Strange Practice by Vivian Shaw is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and it’s being price-matched. I’ve been so curious about this one because the heroine is a “fast-talking doctor to the undead.” It sounds all sorts of awesome. If you’ve read this one, let me know what you thought!
RECOMMENDED: Silent in the Grave by Deanna Raybourn is $1.99! This book and series has been mentioned quite a bit on the site. Elyse recommended it if you like historical mysteries. Reader StacieH4 mentioned it for those who prefer their romance light on sex, and Reader Tina Chaney said on a podcast that the book has one of her favorite opening lines. Have you read it?

RECOMMENDED: The Ones Who Got Away by Roni Loren is $3.99! This romance came out in January and I really enjoyed it and its portrayal of people living with trauma. I gave it a B+, but as it deals with victims of gun violence, I completely understand why readers may want to avoid it.
If the subject matter doesn’t scare you off and your catnip is friends to lovers, slow burn-y goodness, The Ones Who Got Away is highly worth the read.
The Highlander’s Princess Bride by Vanessa Kelly is $1.99! This is the third book in the Improper Princesses series and can be read as a standalone. Some readers noticed this book is inspired by Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, if that’s your jam. Others mentioned that the book is rather long and can feel like it at times.
The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched! This is a book that was included in Elyse’s Uppercase Box subscription. Readers loved how there were some great plot twists that they didn’t see coming, but others thought there was too much stuff wrapped up in the abrupt ending. Have you read this one?
