The Obsession by Nora Roberts is some creepy suspense, followed by a chunk of contemporary small-town romance, followed up by a dash more suspense. It’s a strange book in that the suspense plot isn’t very evenly distributed, but Roberts’ writing is so excellent that I didn’t care. Roberts’ books are filled with fabulous detail–from competence pr0n to home remodeling pr0n to descriptions of old barns–that my brain just goes into vacation mode. Her novels, even … Continue reading The Obsession by Nora Roberts →

I’m so so sorry for the havoc we’re about to wreak on your wallet. We have twenty-one books this month that we’re super jazzed about – Young adult, non-fiction, fantasy romance, and so much more. Don’t forget to tell us what you’re looking forward to this April!

The Next Always by Nora Roberts is $1.99! The Next Always is the first book in the Inn Boonsboro series, which is set at the hotel in Boonsboro, MD – and just about everything about the setting is real.
There’s also a ghost in the story, and, depending on your beliefs about paranormal elements, the ghost may be real, too. So this is a contemporary ParaNora trilogy, and some readers loved the fact that so much of the setting and location exists, while others found it bothersome and intrusive.

Hidden Star by Nora Roberts is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance with a touch of suspense. The heroine also has amnesia and a big bag full of jewels and cash. A few readers weren’t fans of the heroine and found her to be rather boring. However, many thought this was a fun read with lots of elements: action, romance, and suspense. Have you read this one?

RECOMMENDED: The Liar by Nora Roberts is an Audible Daily Deal for $5.95! Elyse punched her Nora Roberts v-card with this book and gave it an A-:
The thing I loved about The Liar was that it’s the perfect blend of suspense and romance for me. The mystery was there but enhanced rather than overshadowed the romance. Also the suspense hinged more on OMG WTF just happened versus OMG entrails on the kitchen floor (Mr. Clean isn’t taking care of that, you know).

Love in the Vineyard by Pamela Aares is $2.99! This is a contemporary romance that takes place in a…vineyard. It has a single parent heroine and it’s a class differences romance. Some readers thought the book was a little long for the plot, while others loved the depth of the characters. It can also be reader without reading the other books in the series. However, the first book in the series is free, with books 2-6 being $3.99 a piece! A lot of them also feature baseball-playing heroes.

High Noon by Nora Roberts is $2.99 right now. This is suspense Nora (as opposed to contemporary Nora or paraNora), and it has a 3.9-star average. Readers who liked it really liked the suspense and the very tough, very smart heroine (who is assaulted so trigger warning, k?) who reminded some of Eve Dallas. If you like suspense or know someone who does, this may make their reading week better.

First Time in Forever by Sarah Morgan is $1.99 at Amazon! This contemporary romance is the first book in Morgan’s Puffin Island series. SB Sarah picked it as one of her March new releases she was excited for. Readers who love the small town romance trope really enjoyed this book, while others felt there was a lack of chemistry between the hero and heroine. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.

My name is Elyse, and I’m a Nora Roberts virgin. Well, I was; I punched that v-card reading The Liar. I have to say losing my Nora virginity was more enjoyable and less awkward than losing my actual virginity. Also, like every old skool historical heroine, I feel like only Nora can give me what I want again. Witness my credit card bill, full of Nora one-click buys. The thing I loved about The Liar was that … Continue reading The Liar by Nora Roberts →
