RECOMMENDED: Love & Other Disasters by Anita Kelly is $2.99! This is book one in the Nashville Love series. Tara and Carrie did a joint review and gave it a B+:
Tara: Overall, I really enjoyed this one! Dahlia and London were such wonderful characters, and I’m a big fan of cooking shows, so I know I’ll be reading Love and Other Disasters again. I’ll just be sure to stock snacks next time, because reading about so much amazing food made me hungry.
Carrie: I was delighted with this book overall. The supporting characters were fun (or loathsome, as the plot demanded). The character development was realistic and powerful. The romance was sexy and I can totally picture Dahlia and London as an old couple on a porch somewhere — I was invested in them for the long haul. This will be one of my comfort re-reads for sure!

RECOMMENDED: Blood on the Tide by Katee Robert is $1.99 and a KDD! This is book two in the Crimson Sails series and Lara gave it a B+:
When I review books, I stop intermittently to jot down notes. With Katee Robert books, I get so immersed so quickly that I forget to take notes. The story sucks me in comprehensively and this book is no exception to that rule. If you’re interested in this series, definitely start with book one as the two are closely linked. I can heartily recommend both.

Welcome to Hide Your Wallet! This is where we mention the new releases on our radar that are dropping this week. We have only five books this week, but looking ahead to September and…whew, buddy! The beginning through the middle of the month is looking absolutely stacked. Which new releases are you excited for this week? Let us know in the comments!

RECOMMENDED: Tiffany Girl by Deeanne Gist is $1.99! This is an American historical romance. Redheadedgirl read the book after hearing about it on a panel at a previous RT conference, and she gave it a B+:
I loved this and chewed through it like someone was going to take it away from me, and I’m totally going to check out more of Gist’s work. She writes specifically American historicals, which are kind of sparse on the ground lately, and are a refreshing change of pace from the English historicals.

RECOMMENDED: Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett is $2.99! Apologies if this is a leftover KDD from the weekend. We had a guest squee review of this one:
Chilling, packed with lore, and a slow burn, Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett is the type of book I’ve been looking for. Their adventure from faerie field research to two professors running like hell from a faerie nightmare kept me on the edge of my seat.

Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn is $3.99! I’ve had several friends read this one and mention it brought them to tears. Have you read it?

Girly Drinks by Malloy O’Meara is $2.99! I mentioned this on a previous Book Beat because it sounds like right up the Bitchery’s alley. If you like niche non-fiction or loved Amy Stewart’s The Drunken Botanist, maybe try this one.

RECOMMENDED: A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily deal today. Tara gave this one an A-:
I’m a gigantic sucker for retellings, whether they’re of fairy tales, myths, or classic novels, and A Spindle Splintered might be my favourite so far. Its take on a multiverse feels fresh because there are no superheroes, only badass girls saving themselves.

When We Left Cuba by Chanel Cleeton is $2.99! This one features a character from the first book in this series, Next Year in Havana, but I believe you can manage this one as a standalone. If I’m wrong, though, chime in below! Here’s what Sarah had to say:
When We Left Cuba is beautiful and fascinating. Better recommendation comes from my house sitter earlier this year who very timidly asked if she could read my ARC of book three because she loves the series so so much and was so excited that a preview copy was in her vicinity.

RECOMMENDED: The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh is $2.99 at select vendors! Kiki gave this one a B+:
Many readers WILL be enthralled with the emotion of Bastien and Celine and for them the final sections of the book will be as thrilling as they were surely meant to be. Think that might be you? Go out and get yourself some Victorian era New Orleans vampires.
