Grumpy Fake Boyfriend by Jackie Lau is 99c at most vendors and $2.99 at Barnes & Noble! Sarah and I wrote a joint review of this one and decided on a B-:
Amanda: There were some missteps for me, like the huge focus on finding love over a weekend getaway from everything, but I know I’ll be reading the next book by Lau. Her characters won me over.
Sarah: I absolutely agree with that – I’ll definitely read Lau’s next book. Her characters, especially their confidence and conversations, won me over, too.

RECOMMENDED: The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis is $1.99! All the trigger warnings for this book, by the way. However, I absolutely loved this and I gave it an A:
The Female of the Species was a cathartic read. I was often flushed with anger, crying from sadness, or amped up with girl power. It’s a powerful book and one that I’ll be talking about for a long time to come.

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers is $2.99! This scifi novel has been recommended and loved by many of my friends, and talked about highly in my book group. The book has some great queer representation, though readers remarked it’s more character driven than plot driven.
