While the Duke Was Sleeping by Sophie Jordan is $3.99! This is a historical romance retelling of the movie While You Were Sleeping. Some readers thought the story worked better as a contemporary romcom. Others loved the animosity and banter between the hero and heroine early on in the book.
The Five by Hallie Rubenhold is $2.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals, which has some other great options! Elyse was incredibly excited about this one and mentioned is a few times on the site podcast. I swore she wrote a review, but I think I’m confusing this one with another book about Jack the Ripper
RECOMMENDED: The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and Sarah previously gave it B+:
If you’re curious about your own habit formation, what motivates you, and how to work with your own tendency, you should definitely take the quiz and check out the book. It would likely be an insightful read.
What a Wallflower Wants by Maya Rodale is $2.99! This is the third book in the Wallflower trilogy. I’m unsure if there’s a need for the books to be read in order. I found the trilogy to be meh generally, but I feel like I’m harder to “wow” when it comes to historical romance.
RECOMMENDED: Sapphire Flames by Ilona Andrews is $3.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals. Many of us romance readers can’t recommend this series or this author enough. You can pick this one up without read the story arc of the previous three, but why would you want to deprive yourself of Ilona Andrews goodness.
RECOMMENDED: A Gentleman Never Keeps Score by Cat Sebastian is $1.99! Carrie read this one and enjoyed it. It was given a B+ grade:
I enjoyed this book so much! A Gentleman Never Keeps Score is a Regency m/m about a disgraced gentleman and a Black pub keeper. The book has a lovely romance as well as a theme of found family and recovery from trauma.
RECOMMENDED: The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare is $1.99! There was some debate on how the heroine’s trauma was handled in this one (feel free to check Goodreads and the comments of Carrie’s review). It earned an A- grade:
It’s fun, it has pathos, there are clothes both hilariously awful and droolingly lovely, it contains found family, and it has plentiful humor. A keeper, for sure.
Stormy Persuasion by Johanna Lindsey is $1.99 at Amazon and $2.99 elsewhere! Readers loved the opposites attract element of this historical romance, while others found the plot to be a little all over the place. It looks like a few other of Lindsey’s books are discounted.
Foolish Bride by A.S. Fenichel is 99c at Amazon and Kobo! This is a second chance romance between two people who were supposed to get married. Some readers mentioned that the dialogue felt a bit too modern for a historical romance, but others really liked the heroine.
Midnight Obsession by Melinda Leigh is $1.99 at Amazon! This romantic suspense is the fourth book in the Midnight series. After reading some reviews, it looks like the hero and heroine’s relationship is already underway (?) and seems more like deepening romantic feelings in the face of danger.
