A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole is $3.99! This is the first book in her Reluctant Royals series and this seems to be a series that just keeps getting better with its books. Many readers loved how Alyssa writes consent, agency, and all sorts of other awesome and empowering things. However, some warn that this book takes several chapters to get into the swing of things.

Shrill by Lindy West is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched. The book does deal with Lindy’s experience with eating, rape culture, and internet trolls, so there’s some pretty heavy stuff. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

Never Kiss a Duke by Megan Frampton is $1.99! This is the first book in the Hazards of Dukes series, which released in January. Elyse gave this one a C grade, so your mileage may vary with this romance.

Time’s Convert by Deborah Harkness is $1.99! I believe reading this is most beneficial if you’ve finished the All Souls Trilogy, though correct me if I’m wrong. If it’s the latter, Lara wrote a great post about why the series is such a favorite for her.

The Lady is Daring by Megan Frampton is $1.99! This is part of the Duke’s Daughters series and features a road trip. Maybe it’s just me but I feel like Frampton is an acquired taste. Some readers really love her books, but I’m in the meh camp. Do you have a favorite?

Sebastian handles conflict with maturity and faces adversity with a sense of positivity. It was such a relief to see a duke wearing his grownup breeches for once. Even with a hero I adored, the conflict fizzled at the end and I struggled with the heroine, affecting … Continue reading Never Kiss a Duke by Megan Frampton →

In case you missed it: I know last Hide Your Wallet we instituted some changes. Well now we have more, thanks to the comment left by Katie C. A lot of you expressed wanting to keep the wide breadth of new releases and Katie’s suggestion was pretty great. We’re still keeping our book maximums (five per person), but have added an extra HYW post per month, allowing another five books per person. The first HYW … Continue reading January’s New Releases, Part Two →

I don’t think we’ve had a Cover Awe in a minute! This is where we keep the snarking to a minimum and share covers with elements we like. Artist credit: Gregg Gulbronson Designer credit: Amy Halperin Amanda: I might be the minority but I like this cover. I’m also biased when a hero has chest hair. Elyse: I do enjoy a hirsute man. Amanda: And I just like the whole “secret cuddle grove in the … Continue reading Cover Awe: Dreamy Cuddle Groves →

Welcome back to Lightning Reviews! The following three reviews are a little longer than our standard mini reviews, but also didn’t warrant a dedicated full-length review. There’s a holiday historical romance, a romantic suspense category Harlequin, and historical fantasy with Mexican folklore. Enjoy!
I know we shouldn’t judge books by covers but I took one look at the gorgeous cover of The Earl’s Christmas Pearl and thought, “A) I want that dress, B) I also want that suit, and C) yep, I’m definitely reading it.” Luckily for me, this cover didn’t lead me astray and I enjoyed most of this sweet Christmas novella about a duke’s daughter and a grumpy Welsh earl with a Welsh corgi (who should’ve … Continue reading The Earl’s Christmas Pearl by Megan Frampton →
