TW: Violence, violence to animals, death of parent Night of the Witch is part historical fantasy and part paranormal romance. It’s the first book in a series, but doesn’t really end on a cliff hanger and the romance gets a full arc by the end, so it’s fine as a standalone. I enjoyed the supernatural element of this book, but I really enjoyed the historical aspect as it was a time period I hadn’t read … Continue reading Night of the Witch by Sara Raasch and Beth Revis →
Beautiful Wreck by Larissa Brown is not a perfect book, but it was exactly the book I needed. It was this beautiful, restful story that transported me somewhere else and soothed my brain. It’s the literary equivalent to just floating in a warm pool, listening to soft noises. First of all, Beautiful Wreck is a time-travel historical, which is my shit. It opens in the near future, a time when people immerse themselves in sophisticated virtual … Continue reading Beautiful Wreck by Larissa Brown →
The Warlord’s Wife by Sandra Lake is a deliciously Old-Skooly historical romance set in 12th century Sweden. The hero was occasionally an alphahole, but like a lot of Old Skool heroes, it made his redemption all the more satisfying. The book opens with widow Lida being beaten and dragged in front of her father-in-law. Lida is very pregnant, which is a problem because she was only married a short time. Her mother-in-law accuses her of … Continue reading The Warlord’s Wife by Sandra Lake →

A couple of notes: this series does not need to be read in order although characters reappear throughout the series (this book ties in closely with The Viper, Lachlan and Bella’s book). This book also contains an attempted rape scene and mention of a … Continue reading The Ghost by Monica McCarty →

RECOMMENDED: Blamed by Edie Harris is 99c! And I can honestly say that it’s worth the damn dollar. I’d even pay five whole dollars for this. Maybe more. This is a romantic suspense and I read the book late last year, giving it an A–:
It truly is a beautifully written book. It’s emotional and engaging and truly exemplifies what I want in my romantic suspenses.

If it’s Tuesday, there must be HaBOs, right? Of course! Today’s HaBO, or Help a Bitch Out, is from Ryann who is looking for a medieval she really, really enjoyed: HEY SBTB. I Know you guys can all help me solve this one. It was an epic medieval romance I read in the earliest 2000’s, but is probably older. The cover was pink or beige with a couple on the front.. This one was lusty … Continue reading HaBO: Medieval with Fake Underbrush Coupling, Plus a War Horse →
