Never Love a Highlander by Maya Banks is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and today’s deals include a couple other romance titles. This is the third book in the McCabe Trilogy. Readers are divided on the hero. He’s a bit of a jerk in this book. Some felt he had a worthy redemption arc, though others disagreed.

RECOMMENDED: Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier is $2.99! I have such incredibly fond memories of this book. My best friend and I read this together in high school, but my school library only had one copy, so I had to wait my turn. It’s a lovely fantasy novel with some romance, but be warned that it’s a slow, slow burn.

RECOMMENDED: Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews is 99c at Amazon and Barnes & Noble! Burn for Me is the first book in the Hidden Legacy series, and is an urban fantasy/billionaire story with magic, suspense. We had a great guest squee on the entire series and I can definitely confirm the books are amazing!

Rising Fire by Terri Brisbin is $2.99! This fantasy romance is the first book in the Stone Circles series. The hero is sent to “vanquish” the heroine’s fire abilities, so there’s an enemies to lovers element that readers really loved. However, others felt the heroine bordered on TSTL (too stupid to live). But! Reviewers also mentioned the series gets better with each book.

PODCAST RECOMMENDED: You May Kiss the Bride by Lisa Berne is $1.99! Former Avon publicist, Jessie Edwards, had some great things to say about this book on a previous podcast episode:
There’s so much tension, there’s so much passive-aggressiveness going on, and there’s just sharp comment after sharp comment, that it’s like all of this, Jane-Austen-esque level of wit running through it, and the social dynamics that are displayed there. I was fascinated by it.

Hard Knocks by Ruby Lang is $1.99! This contemporary romance has a neurologist heroine and a hockey playing hero. Readers really loved the characterization of the hero and heroine, but some found the heroine a bit cold at times. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.

RECOMMENDED: All In by Simona Ahrnstedt is $2.99 at Amazon, Google:Play, and iBooks! Hopefully other vendors will match the price. Redheadedgirl gave the book an A:
I felt like this was full of Shakespearean drama, and scheming families, and hot sex, and gorgeous clothes, but also some important things to say about how the world is functioning. There’s a lot going on, though, and the ending a tad rushed.

RECOMMENDED: Any Duchess Will Do by Tessa Dare is $1.99! This is the fourth book in the Spindle Cove series. It was also a Sizzling Book Club pick with Sarah saying, “This is a delightful historical romance, will familiar tropes explored in new ways.”
It also received an A grade during the 2014 RITA® Reader Challenge from Reader Nerdalisque:
The characters – main and supporting – are well-developed and appealing. The plot is familiar, but Dare delivers it in a way that makes it fresh. Events move along at a good pace. There’s an economy to the plot: each scene advances the story with no excess. The writing is lovely – creative, descriptive, and often laugh-out-loud funny (the number of things I highlighted is ridiculous). And the sexytimes are quite capable of causing “flutterings,” to quote one conversation between the hero and heroine.

Come the Spring by Julie Garwood is $1.99! I know Garwood is an auto-buy author for many, though I’ll personally admit I haven’t read any of her American historical romances. This one features a double dose of romance as it has two heroes working together and finding love along the way. However, this is the last book of a series and some felt it lacked the usual sweet, Garwood charm. Have you read it?

This week, we have a wide range of genres and grades. We have a historical romance with an arranged marriage/marriage of convenience theme, the first book in Maya Banks’ new series, and a M/M romance that Sarah that is vaguely color coordinated to match Pantone’s Colors of the Year.
I always feel guilty when I can’t finish a book, but it happens. At age twenty-three, Evangeline gives up her V-card to her most recent boyfriend, Eddie. However, he only saw her as a conquest and kicked her out of bed as soon as the deed was done. Evangeline’s roommates insist she get all dolled up, go to the hottest club that Eddie is known to frequent, and show him what he gave up. She … Continue reading Mastered by Maya Banks →
