I’m honestly not sure what having all the images from the episode in the podcast entry would do to the feeds it serves, so I’ll be doing a separate entry with all the visual aids and linking it. You can also find all the RTRW content at our category page for Romantic Times Rewind. And, most importantly, if you want to listen and follow along with this entry, we have more detail in the audio, … Continue reading Romantic Times Rewind: May 2014 Review Images→
The Brass Queen by Elizabeth Chatsworth is $2.99! I mentioned this on a recent Hide Your Wallet because I was very interested in the heroine. Have any of you picked this up?
The Killing Moon by N.K. Jemisin is $2.99! This is an earlier title of Jemisin’s and the first book in the Dreamblood series. How do you think it compares to the rest of her titles?
Readers who like political scheming, fashion as a weapon and a tool, secrets, and swashbuckling will enjoy this, and as a special treat for Tarot fans the characters have their own form of cartomancy which is described in detail in the book.
How to Fail at Flirting by Denis Williams is $2.99! This is a recent release; it came out in December. It was also featured on a previous Hide Your Wallet. Warning for this one as the heroine has left an abusive relationship and it plays a significant part of the romance, with the heroine working through her trauma.
Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks is $1.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals. This is a historical romance with (you guessed it) a Scottish hero! The heroine is deaf and in an arranged marriage. Some readers thought the conflict was resolved rather easily, but many loved the romance between the hero and heroine. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

In Bed with a Highlander by Maya Banks is $1.99 and part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals! This is the first book in the McCabe Trilogy and features a forced/arranged marriage. Some felt the historical romance seemed a little too modern, but others recommend it for a quick, fun read. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.
RECOMMENDED BY MANY: Written in Red by Anne Bishop is 99c! This is the first book in The Others series, and it has a 4+ star average. I love this series and many readers of the site do too. A warning, though, as it does feature self-harm. I will also note that I found Meg, the heroine, to be a little Mary Sue-ish at first, but she really comes into her own.
RECOMMENDED: A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas is $2.99! Both Sarah and Carrie read this book and enjoyed it.
Sarah gave it a B+: I haven’t shut up about this book since I finished it. My outbound text messages are mostly hollering, squeeing, and long strings of vowels about this book.
I’m so excited this book exists. I’m so excited that I got to read it. I’m so excited there will be more.
Carrie gave it B: I can’t WAIT to find out what Charlotte, Livia, and Mrs. Watson are up to. I hope it involves them being protective of each other, empowering, and smart. The excitement is palpable!
Never Love a Highlander by Maya Banks is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and today’s deals include a couple other romance titles. This is the third book in the McCabe Trilogy. Readers are divided on the hero. He’s a bit of a jerk in this book. Some felt he had a worthy redemption arc, though others disagreed.
