Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q. Sutanto is $1.99! This is book two in a series, with the first book being Dial A for Aunties. I definitely think these should be read in order as book two builds upon the events of the first.

RECOMMENDED: A Lady Awakened by Cecilia Grant is $2.99! This book is often recommended in terms a sex-positive heroine. However, other readers found the heroine’s view of sex to be rather unromantic. I feel like this is one of the more divisive romances; people either seem to love it or hate it.

The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading March 2022 New Releases, Part One →

The Darkling Bride by Laura Andersen is $1.99! This is a Gothic mystery set in Ireland with ghosts and crumbling estates. Elyse read this one and wound up giving it a C. She loved the plot setup, but was iffy on its execution.

The Truth About Cowboys by Lisa Renee Jones is 99c! This is the first book in a new series and seems to have a lot of catnip, but also a lot going on: small town, an athlete turned cowboy, opposites attract, and a writer heroine. Fans of Jones say they enjoyed the departure from her typical romantic suspense.

Hasn’t it been ages since we discussed new releases? I feel like it has. Time either moves too quickly or at a glacial pace in the reading world. Down below are a ton of awesome upcoming books and I think we covered most of the big releases. However, there is one that many of you are anticipating that didn’t make our personal picks: The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory has all sorts of enemies-to-lovers vibes. Don’t forget to … Continue reading July’s New Releases →

RECOMMENDED: Opening Up by Lauren Dane is $2.99! This is the first book in the Ink & Chrome erotic contemporary series. Elyse gave the book an A-:
First of all, let’s take a moment to appreciate how gorgeous the cover of Opening Up is. I’d hang that on my wall. I really would. But the contents of the book are just as lovely.
Still this book was incredibly sexy and often very funny. It made me duck out on the coworker I was traveling with: “I’d love to go to TGI Fridays with you, but PJ and Asa have a new leather cane they’ve been dying to try out and also I need to know how his weenus piercing feels without a condom, so I’m gonna just head up to my room, ‘kay, thanks.”

Three Parts Dead by Max Gladstone is $3.99! This is a recommended urban fantasy and many of my friends loved it. Reviewers on Goodreads really enjoyed the badass heroine, but some felt it had “first book syndrome” with too much stuff going on to set up the plot. Have you read this one?

Today is a good day for Cover Snark! Fair warning that you probably should abstain from eating or drinking while reading this post. Amanda: This cover does not look like it belongs in this decade. And it came out last year. Redheadedgirl: Where did his leg go? Amanda: Her vagina. Elyse: Those are some 80s jeans right there. Wow. Sarah: I would SWEAR to you this is a still from an 80’s hairband music … Continue reading Cover Snark: Sassy Gargoyles, the Pit Check, & Bulging Biceps →

Mercury Striking by Rebecca Zanetti is $1.99! This is a dystopian romance and the first in a new series. Readers loved the worldbuilding and thought the heroine had a nice blending of being confident yet vulnerable. However, some said they felt a little lost in all of the action. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

RECOMMENDED: Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell is $1.99! This book is a reader favorite, with a poignant ending and a powerful set of characters.
When Sarah collected recommendations for the best YA of 2013, this book was mentioned constantly. NPR’s Linda Holmes wrote:
Ultimately, Eleanor & Park is an enormously optimistic book about love and connection, and about the capacity of people to be powerfully consoling and healing to each other, even when they’re 16. And for that healing to be meaningful, there has to be some honesty about the injury.
