The Duke Effect by Sophie Jordan is $2.99! This is book seven in The Rogue Files series. Elyse mentioned this on October 2020’s Hide Your Wallet and said that while this series has been hit or miss, she’s been waiting for this heroine’s book for quite some time.
RECOMMENDED: Death Below Stairs by Jennifer Ashley is $1.99! It was a previous book club pick and Sarah has great things to say about the series:
I love the whole series and it’s on my short (very short) list of books to give to friends who are grieving. Competence porn, women looking after one another, and a wonderful set of characters. And food porn too. High grade. Proceed with caution if hungry or do yourself a big gifty favor and read with snacks.
Daughter of the Blood by Anne Bishop is $2.99! This is the first book in The Black Jewels series and was recommended in today’s Rec League. Ellen notes that this series deserves all of the content warnings. I know for many readers this was a formative series for their fantasy reading. What are your thoguhts?
Dangerous by Amanda Quick is $1.99! This is a historical romance with (I believe) a slight mystery element. This was originally published in 1993, so if you know whether this one holds up, comment down below!
Midsummer Moon by Laura Kinsale is $1.99! This has been discussed and recommended on a few previous podcasts and is a little lighter on angst than Kinsale’s other romances. For many readers, this was one of their first romances and as a bonus, it has an adorable hedgehog. Have you read this one?
The Dukes of Vauxhall is 99c! This is a historical romance anthology with four novellas. All of the romances take place simultaneously and readers say the authors did a great job keeping the continuity straight. However, with anthologies, not all of the stories are equal in their enjoyment. Have you read this one?
Whiskey Sharp: Unraveled by Lauren Dane is 99c! I know Sarah enjoyed this one and is excited for the next book in the series. Here’s what she said about Unraveled, and she typed this while on a snow slope! She assured me that she stopped snowboarding first.
It’s low on relationship conflict and high on family conflict. I really liked the found family aspects. And the food.
Zero to Sixty by Marie Harte is 99c! This is a contemporary romance with a lonely mechanic hero. There’s also an adorable stray dog named Cookie. This can definitely be read as a standalone, but some found the hero a little too gruff for their liking. For the most part, I’ve enjoyed this series
My Lady Quicksilver by Bec McMaster is $1.99! This is the third book in the London Steampunk series. I’m not sure if it can be read as a standalone, so maybe the Bitchery can help with that question. Readers loved the world McMaster created, but some found they didn’t enjoy the main couple as much as previous books. The first book is also on sale for $1.88!
