The Earl Takes All by Lorraine Heath

The Earl Takes All

This was one of Sarah’s picks for this month’s Hide Your Wallet, and boy howdy, was it cringey. (Sarah: “DAMMIT.”) Edward, younger identical twin brother of the Earl of Greyling has come home from a trip to Africa where his brother has been killed in an accident. Instead of coming home as Edward, though, he’s pretending to be his brother (Albert), because Julia, his brother’s wife, is pregnant, and Albert, as he lay dying, told Edward to pretend … Continue reading The Earl Takes All by Lorraine Heath

Books on Sale: Falling into Bed with a Duke by Lorraine Heath & More

RECOMMENDED: Falling into Bed with a Duke by Lorraine Heath is $1.99! This was Elyse’s first Heath book and she gave it a B+:

When I picked up this book, I wanted something that would pull me out of crappy day and the dead mouse smell that we couldn’t pinpoint in the office. So I took this book to the coffee shop, grabbed a cup of English breakfast, and proceeded to get lost in the Victorian Era. Falling Into Bed With a Duke is good like that–it’s a one-sitting book that draws you in because you’re so in love with the hero and heroine. The only reason this book didn’t get an A is because I was disappointed a bit by the end.

Dukes, Dukes, & More Dukes!

Books on Sale: Dukes Prefer Blondes by Loretta Chase & More

RECOMMENDED: Dukes Prefer Blondes by Loretta Chase is $3.99! This is a relatively recent release that Carrie read and gave it a B. Overall, she enjoyed it, but thought it suffered from too much plot:

Dukes Prefer Blondes is a book with irresistible characters, a great plot, and tons of witty banter. Y’all know how dearly I love a battle of wits, and this couple just never slows down on the battlefront. It would be A+ material if not for the extremely odd construction. It feels like this book is one draft short of finished, and also like it’s two books crammed into one.

Holy Recommended Historicals, Batman!

Books on Sale: Wallflower Gone Wild by Maya Rodale & More

RECOMMENDED: Wallflower Gone Wild by Maya Rodale is $2.99! This is the second book in the Bad Boys & Wallflowers series, and you can get the first book, plus several others from Rodale, on sale! Elyse reviewed this book in the summer of 2014 and gave it an A:

The sexual tension in this book was really well done, and I loved the slow and organic way that Olivia and Phinn looked past “London’s Least Likely” and “The Mad Baron” to fall in love with the actual person they were married to. Reading about both of them coming out of their shells was a delight.

The Last Wicked Scoundrel by Lorraine Heath

The Last Wicked Scoundrel

This story could have made an excellent full length novel.   The tale begins with a two page journal entry written by the hero detailing his entire backstory.  If this was a novel, it would have taken chapters but to keep the page count down the author tells us everything we need to know about him in 3 pages.  Starting a book off by showing not telling tends to drive me crazy. Our heroine, the Duchess … Continue reading The Last Wicked Scoundrel by Lorraine Heath

Guest Post: A Love Letter to Texas Destiny

Texas Destiny

Most of the folks who work in romance publishing love romance – this is rather obvious. Few people are in publish for the pots of money – there aren’t any. But Avon associate publicist Jessie Edwards is a huge romance fan. HUGE. She was telling me about her favorite romance, and I asked her to write about it. Here is Jessie’s love letter to Texas Destiny, her favorite romance in the whole world. Three years ago, … Continue reading Guest Post: A Love Letter to Texas Destiny
