After putting down several books out of disinterest, I can proudly say that Mister Hockey was the one to break that pattern. It was funny and sexy and I really enjoyed both main characters. However, what kept the book from really knocking it out of the park was the narrative’s aversion to really getting down and dirty with the serious issues the hero and heroine were facing. Briana “Breezy” Angel is a children’s librarian and … Continue reading Mister Hockey by Lia Riley →
Bad Bachelor is a contemporary romance with two main characters who are a lot like Transformers. Not in the sense that they are robots in disguise, but there is definitely more than meets the eye. There is some amazing banter and some fantastic sex scenes, though I had to overcome one major hurdle. Darcy Greer is a goth librarian who is desperately trying to get more funding for her branch. Reed McMahon works in PR. … Continue reading Bad Bachelor by Stefanie London →
Falling for Trouble is a small town romance between a rock star and a librarian. I found it to be light as a feather, which was great because I was too stressed at the time to handle any high angst levels, even with the promise of an HEA. If you need a comfort read that is funny, big on female friendship, and mostly angst-free without being dumbed down, this book should do the trick. Joanna … Continue reading Falling for Trouble by Sarah Title →
I mentioned in a recent Whatcha Reading? post that I “struggled with the rapid pace of the emotional development” in this novella, and that I had a hard time buying the HEA between the characters. All true. I don’t like insta-love, and in a novella it is so difficult to convince me as a reader that two characters who have never met before have enough time together to create a believable ending wherein they’re together and all … Continue reading Broken Resolutions by Olivia Dade →
During a recent podcast with Molly O’Keefe, I learned about this novella, and really, who can resist the bundle of title temptation that is The Navy SEAL’s Rebel Librarian? Not me, that’s for sure. I really liked this story. Alas, it suffered from one of the major hurdles of novella-ing in romance: the hero and heroine didn’t know each other prior to the start of the story. That’s a lot of progress to make in a short time … Continue reading The SEAL’s Rebel Librarian by Anne Calhoun →
