RECOMMENDED: A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn is 99c! This is a historical mystery and Sarah really enjoyed it. Here’s what she said:
I read A Curious Beginning with an I-cannot-put-this-down enthusiasm and devoured it very quickly. I relished both the characters and the mystery. The Veronica Speedwell series is excellent and intelligent fun, and while the second isn’t quite as satisfying as the first, I heartily recommend them both.
Her Royal Spyness by Rhys Bowen is $1.99! This is the first book in a series of the same name, and I know Sarah has been enjoying these books both on paper and audio. She gave this one a B-:
The allure of the story wasn’t the mystery so much as it was Georgie and her friends. I loved her ingenuity and her way of managing people and situations, her determination and her sense of humor, and especially her friendships.
Walk of Shame by Lauren Layne is $1.99! I’ve seen this one mentioned in the comments here, so if you’ve read it, do chime in with your thoughts. This is an opposites attract, enemies to lovers contemporary romance. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.
It’s time to talk new releases for May! I don’t know about you, but I feel like it’s been ages since we talking about upcoming books. May is going to be particularly rough on my own wallet, though here are a few more titles you may be anticipating: Gay royal romance alert: Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston . Lesbian royal romance alert: Her Royal Highness by Rachel Hawkins . Middlegame by Seanan McGuire is a new standalone … Continue reading May’s New Releases→
This is a really interesting memoir by someone who I didn’t know much about. She’s got a complicated life story, and a great attitude as she sashays her way through her life. She’s funny, and touching. And, as ever, the inner lives of Black women are still not something that receives nearly enough attention.
We have a whole host of new releases to get excited for in February! Heck yeah! But in case none of the books below interested you, here are a few more coming out: Angie Thomas is back! Catch her next book On the Come Up . I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella seems like a sweet release. Love assassin nuns? Robin LaFevers has a new duology beginning with Courting Darkness ! I’m sure you’re all excited for Devil’s Daughter by Lisa … Continue reading February’s New Releases→
I acknowledge that Sweet Agony won’t be for everyone. Some readers may just think Cyrian’s an asshole and that’s fine. For me, for my individual reading experience, it was perfect and I’m so happy I found it.
Stripped is an uncomplicated romance between two goofy, sexy people. It has a sweetness to it that’s reminiscent of a contemporary friends to lovers trope. If that hits all of your buttons, do read this!
London’s Secret Affair by Anabelle Bryant is 99c! This is the first book in the Midnight Secrets series. It features an off-limits romance and yes, a duke. Readers seem torn on the heroine. Some love her forward-thinking nature, while others wished she were a bit more responsible.
The Bittersweet Bride by Vanessa Riley is 99c! This is the first book in the Advertisements for Love series and might have a whiff of a secret baby. But please correct me if I’m wrong. Readers warn this book is a bit bananas and has an Old Skool vibe. Would you agree?
RECOMMENDED: Wicked Intentions by Elizabeth Hoyt is $1.99! I listened to this on audio after Elyse’s great review and loved it. I’ve since listened to the next two Maiden Lane books on audio as well. Elyse really enjoyed this book and gave it an A-:
Serial killer. And Ghost of St. Giles vigilante. And river pirate. And bondage.
If any or all of those things appeal to you, I’d really recommend this book. If you’re looking for a spicy historical, or one not focused around the glittering aristocracy, Wicked Intentions fits the bill. Aside from a few ball scenes, this book takes place among the working class of London.
