I really, really love a contemporary romance that features an emotionally fluent hero and real conflict that’s handled with respect and intelligence. Sleepover by Serena Bell hit both these nails on the head, making it one of the best, most emotionally satisfying contemporary romances I’ve read this year. It’s also got some crazy-hot sex scenes which is a nice bonus.

Wicked, My Love by Susanna Ives is $1.99! This is the second book in the Wicked Little Secrets. The other books are also discounted, as in the first book is FREE. Readers loved the opposites attraction, enemies to lovers romance, but found the heroine to be frustrating at times.
The Lady Travelers Guide to Scoundrels and Other Gentlemen by Victoria Alexander is $2.49! This is the first book in the Lady Travelers Society series and it has, you guessed it, lady travelers. Readers say the plot takes a while to pick up, but others say this historical romance is both sweet and funny.
RECOMMENDED: Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and it’s being price-matched. It’s a scifi novel with some great female characters. Readers say that though this scifi is a little darker and less “feel good,” the loved it. However, some felt a bulk of the book was just setup and information dumping for the next book. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads. Elyse enjoyed this one and I really loved the audiobook.
The Prince of Midnight by Laura Kinsale is $1.99! This historical romance has some Beauty and the Beast elements. Readers love the angsty, broody hero, while others thought there would be more action to the story. If you’ve read this one, tell us what you thought about it in the comments! It also has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.
What I found the most interesting about this book was how the blind hero was written. He hadn’t always been blind – he was struck by a disease while he was in the Navy – and the narrative describes with abundant detail how he moves through a world he can’t see, but he still perceives. And I really appreciated that she doesn’t magically cure him of his blindness. Love doesn’t cure all things, and this is a part of who he is now.
Once More, My Darling Rogue by Lorraine Heath is $2.99. This is book two in the Scandalous Gentlemen of St. James trilogy, and I believe the first book is also on sale! This book has a 3.8-star average, and readers who liked it say the whole series is terrific. However, some didn’t enjoy the characters as much as the ones in the first book.
Uncertain Magic by Laura Kinsale is $1.99! This was originally published in the late 80s and has since gotten a cover update. This definitely has some old skool power dynamics, that probably don’t translate well to today. But Kinsale is a favorite in the Bitchery. Have you enjoyed this one?
The Dream Hunter by Laura Kinsale is $1.99 at Amazon and Barnes & Noble! This is a standalone historical romance and many reviews say this book is completely bonkers. Some also note that the audio is particularly good. Have you read this one? Is it as crazysauce as everyone says?
