Books on Sale: Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir & More

RECOMMENDED: Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir is $2.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals, which also feature some great romance and historical fiction. AJ and I did a lot of squeeing about this one on a podcast episode. Will you understand what’s going on? Probably not, but you’ll have a lot of fun being clueless. I also gave it a B+:

Gideon the Ninth is a unique and bloody bananapants book, and I do think it’s worth a reader’s curiosity. Gideon is an unforgettable protagonist.

Books on Sale: The Princess Bride by William Goldman & More

RECOMMENDEDThe Princess Bride by William Goldman is $2.99 at Amazon! Goldman passed away on the 16th, so my guess is that this sale isn’t coincidental. This is a special illustrated edition of the book and the new cover looks absolutely gorgeous. Though, of course, because it’s illustrated, readers may want a hard copy of this rather than a digital one. We also recently ran a Squee from the Keeper Shelf review of The Princess Bride.

All of these reviews are from Carrie and she had a great idea to theme them as “continuations.” I do love a good theme!

The sequel, Armistice, picks up three years after the end of Amberlough, with the characters of that novel scattered. Cordelia … Continue reading Armistice by Lara Elena Donnelly

Amberlough by Lara Elena Donnelly

Amberlough

Amberlough is an intense fantasy spy novel that ends on a cliffhanger. It’s not a romance novel, but there is romance in it. It’s a novel in which none of the main characters seem especially tender or affectionate and yet everyone is motivated by love. Amberlough is technically a fantasy novel in the sense that it takes place in an alternate world, but there are no magic spells or dragons (alas). The city of Amberlough … Continue reading Amberlough by Lara Elena Donnelly
