The Prince of Midnight by Laura Kinsale is $1.99! This historical romance has some Beauty and the Beast elements. Readers love the angsty, broody hero, while others thought there would be more action to the story. If you’ve read this one, tell us what you thought about it in the comments! It also has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.

Good news, everyone! I made this drink on a Wednesday afternoon after therapy instead of on a Thursday morning; I feel so accomplished. I also have to take Linus to the vet Thursday morning (he’s fine!), so necessity is the mother of invention. Or rather, necessity is the mother of invention when you’re on a deadline. This month’s cocktail is inspired by Kristen Proby’s Savor You! Do read Elyse’s review because (as always) it’s fantastic. … Continue reading Covers & Cocktails Giveaway: Paid Time Off →
Savor You by Kristen Proby is a romance featuring female friendships, food pr0n and a plus sized heroine. I enjoyed everything except the hero, who I felt infantilized the heroine on occasion. Savor You is the fifth book in the Fusion series, set around restaurant called Seduction that a group of female friends opened together. Despite this book’s position later in the series order, it can be read as a standalone. The heroine of the … Continue reading Savor You by Kristen Proby →

April is here! Happy April Fool’s, by the way! How did you like this year’s joke? A new month is upon us, which means a lot more books will be making it onto our shelves. It seems the month is a bit back heavy (heh) for us at SBTB HQ, but here are a few more titles that you might be aware of: A bunch of women in my book group have been talking about The … Continue reading April’s New Releases →

RECOMMENDED: Bollywood and the Beast by Suleikha Snyder is 99c! This is the third book in the Bollywood Confidential series, and the previous books are also on sale. Elyse pulled a Bad Decisions Book Club to finish this one and gave it an A-:
So to sum it up, we have Beauty and the Beast, found family, surprise m/m love story that broke my fucking heart, and lovable curmudgeon. It was kind of like this book was written just for me.

RECOMMENDED: Vicious by V.E. Schwab is $2.99! Though I have not read this, several of my friends (four to be exact, two of whom have rated it five starts on Goodreads) have and absolutely loved it. With rivalries, super powers, and experiments gone wrong, I’ve heard Vicious compared to being a literary comic book. It has a 4.2-star rating on Goodreads.

Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen is $2.99 at Amazon and iBooks! I’m not sure how long this deal will last, as I believe it was a Kindle Daily Deal this weekend. I can’t recommended Allen’s books highly enough and I love the magical realism she incorporates. However, some readers wished they could have identified more with the characters.

Stars of Fortune by Nora Roberts is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and the price is being matched! It’s the first book in a new paranormal/fantasy romance trilogy and was nominated for a RITA. One of our guest reviewers said that while the writing was beautiful, there was a lack of conflict that made everything seem really easy.

RECOMMENDED: Dukes Prefer Blondes by Loretta Chase is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price matched!. Carrie read it and gave it a B. Overall, she enjoyed it, but thought it suffered from too much plot:
Dukes Prefer Blondes is a book with irresistible characters, a great plot, and tons of witty banter. Y’all know how dearly I love a battle of wits, and this couple just never slows down on the battlefront. It would be A+ material if not for the extremely odd construction. It feels like this book is one draft short of finished, and also like it’s two books crammed into one.

RECOMMENDED: High Season by Jessica Whitman is $1.99! Redheadedgirl reviewed this book after RT this year and gave it an A-:
This was a sweet romance and had complex families and also sorts of mild angst and horses and I liked it a LOT. There are two more books in the series, and I’m excited to read those. There’s dudes in polo pants, and also ponies.

RECOMMENDED: Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen is $1.99! This author became an auto-buy for me after I read this book as a part of a GoodReads reading challenge. I would liken this book to women’s fiction with a magical realism slant. It’s heartwarming and beautiful and has a 4-star rating on GR. The biggest complaint seems to be the book is a little predictable, but we all need an easy read now and again. It’s the first book in the Waverley Family series.
