To Woo a Wicked Widow by Jenna Jaxon is 99c! This is the first book in The Widows’ Club and some of the subsequent books are also 99c. This has a heroine who is trying to avoid getting married again. Readers seemed divided on the heroine. Some enjoyed her independence, while others couldn’t really connect with her.
Lady Helena Investigates by Jane Steen is 99c! This is the first book in a historical mystery series, which is perfect timing if you’ve exhausted all the current historical mystery series recommendations. Some readers feel like there’s been a glut of releases in that subgenre, but others are always happy to have more options. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.
The Girl with the Red Balloon by Katherine Locke is 99c! This is a pretty new release and I mentioned how excited I was about it in a previous Hide Your Wallet. Reviewers on Goodreads recommend this title for fans of magical realism, but some felt the heroine was a bit boring.

Going Dark by Monica McCarty is $1.99! This is McCarty’s first book in her romantic suspense series, The Lost Platoon. I originally picked up this book because of the heroine; she’s a marine ecologist. However, I wasn’t too thrilled with our first intro to the hero and his fellow SEALs.
