H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and so far, is only available on Amazon. There are a couple romances in today’s deals as well. This book made many Best Of lists and won an award or two. I also remember snagging it from my Little Free Library. Some readers say it’s a great examination of grief, while others found it just wasn’t for them.
A Fine Romance by Christi Barth is 99c! This contemporary romance has a slight enemies to lovers trope. The heroine wants to open a “romance store,” which helps craft the perfect date for couples, and the hero is a baker. It’s a sweet romance, though some readers found the couple’s obstacles to be meh.
Suddenly One Summer by Julie James is $1.99! James is a contemporary romance favorite around here and A Lot Like Love is also on sale. Readers warn that though they loved the ending, they warn it’s not your typical romantic way to end a story (no clue what this means, but saw several people commenting on it). Many also loved the heroine. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.
Off Base by Annabeth Albert is 99c! This is a contemporary m/m romance with forced proximity, as the two heroes seem to be roommates. One of them is also a virgin if that’s your catnip. Many readers found this to be a pretty satisfying read. However, some felt they wanted more depth and connection with the characters.
One Good Earl Deserves a Lover by Sarah MacLean is $3.99! This is book two in her Rules of Scoundrels series with the first book also being on sale for $1.99. It also has a 4+ star average on GoodReads, and features a scientist heroine who is determined to learn about sexuality before her wedding night, and needs a rogue to help her with said research. The book does deal with cheating as the heroine is soon to be married to someone else, which I know some readers aren’t fond of in their books.
In a previous Books on Sale post, Sarah had this to say:
I wanted to love the heroine, and while I liked her, I struggled with this book for a few of the same reasons that the other 2-star reviewers did, but those who loved this book, loooved this book.
