Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas is $1.99! This is the third book in The Wallflowers series, though it can be read on its own. I feel like this one is a huge reader favorite. (It’s personally my second favorite in the series, but I know I’m the minority.) It has a shy heroine and a rakish hero. They obviously get an HEA and their son shows up as the hero in Devil in Spring
Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe by Heather Webber is $2.99 and part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals! This seems to be women’s fiction with some magical realism and yummy food descriptions. Seeing as I love Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen a lot, this should be right up my alley, but I’ve been hesitant to add it to my TBR.
RECOMMENDED: Something About You by Julie James is $1.99! This is the very first James book I read and it’s the first in the FBI/US Attorney series. James does competence porn really well and this ranks high on my enemies to lovers catnip.
RECOMMENDED: The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan is $3.99! This is also Kindle Daily Deal. Elyse and Redheadedgirl did a joint review of this book and they gave it an A:
RHG: So I’m giving this an A, because it was delightful and I adore the Fug Girls’ version of Harry and Kate and Wills that they’ve created in their heads. It also passed the “Did I stay up until 3 am to finish this? YES I DID” test. How about you?
Elyse: Totally an A. It wasn’t as heavy in the romance as I wanted but made up for it by being addictive. I too pulled the 3 a.m. read. Plus it’s really funny and heartfelt.
Twice Bitten by Lynsay Sands is $1.99! This book came out earlier this year and is book twenty-seven in the Argeneau series. This book can be read as its own. Some readers say there’s more serious elements than they’re used to in this series. However, others say that Sands does a good job blending humor and romance.
RECOMMENDED BY MANY: Written in Red by Anne Bishop is 99c! This is the first book in The Others series, and it has a 4+ star average. I love this series and many readers of the site do too. A warning, though, as it does feature self-harm. I will also note that I found Meg, the heroine, to be a little Mary Sue-ish at first, but she really comes into her own.
It Started with a Kiss by Marina Adair is $1.99 at Amazon! This contemporary romance with small town elements and is the first book in the Sequoia Lake series. Readers loved the outdoorsy heroine, though some felt they were bored with the romance. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads. Have you read this?
RECOMMENDED: Nightchaser by Amanda Bouchet is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched. I enjoyed this sci-fi romance and gave this one a B+:
There’s a slow burn romance between two characters whom I came to adore, an exciting cast of secondary characters, and big secrets.
All for You by Laura Florand is 99c at Amazon! This is the first book in the Paris Nights series and I know Florand is an auto-buy author for many who love contemporary romances. Readers enjoyed the friends to lovers romance, but found the heroine’s indecisiveness on what she wanted caused the book to drag.
This Cover Awe, we’re talking about great costuming on romance covers! Now I will fully admit that I picked all of the covers below, so it’s fully my fault if you hate them. What I also enjoy about this feature is we get to discuss what elements of a cover work for us and what doesn’t. Sometimes, we disagree! Amanda: Sarah did a podcast episode with Alyssa on the costuming and you should all go … Continue reading Cover Awe: Costuming→
