Frankenstein & Historical Romances

Books on Sale: London’s Best Kept Secret by Anabelle Bryant & More

London’s Best Kept Secret by Anabelle Bryant is $1.99! This historical romance is the second book in the Midnight Secrets series and can we get a ruling on whether that’s a mullet on the cover? The hero and heroine are already married in this one, but some readers couldn’t get past the hero’s scheming.

Books on Sale: The Diviners by Libba Bray & More

RECOMMENDED: The Diviners by Libba Bray is $2.99! This is YA fantasy set in 1920s New York, so you can bet there are plenty of amazing clothes and fancy speakeasies. I personally loved the cast of characters, especially the heroine Evie and Evie’s uncle, who happens to curate an occult museum. However, some people found Evie to border on the TSTL category. Any readers care to weigh in on what they thought?

A Kindle Daily Deal, Plus Historical Romances!

Books on Sale: The Beautiful Ashes by Jeaniene Frost & More

The Beautiful Ashes by Jeaniene Frost is a Kindle Daily Deal for 99c! This is the first book in her new Broken Destiny series, which is a New Adult paranormal romance/urban fantasy. Some readers mentioned having some confusion as they weren’t sure if Frost was trying to write something similar to New Adult, young adult, or a straight adult urban fantasy. However, others thought the blend of action and suspense balanced well with the romantic aspects. I’m sure some Bitchery members have read this one. What do you think?

Books on Sale: Destiny’s Captive by Beverly Jenkins & More

RECOMMENDED: Destiny’s Captive by Beverly Jenkins is $1.99! This is the third book in the Destiny series and Carrie gave it a B grade, who had an overall good experience with the book but advises reading the previous two:

I have a love/hate relationship with Destiny’s Captive.  It’s a sheep in wolves’ clothing.  It has all the accoutrements of a story with a warrior woman character who takes charge but it’s actually a story about domestication, and it made me kind of depressed.

Books on Sale: Hardwired by Meredith Wild & More

Hardwired by Meredith Wild is $1.99. Sarah sat next to Wild at the 2015 RT signing and can attest to the number of readers who stopped at her table to tell her how much they loved the series. This is book 1 of the Hackers series, is BDSM-flavored erotic romance, and it has a 4.1-star average. Also, if you’d like to try before you buy, there are some chapters up on Wattpad! When I read it last night, they only had five chapters, but it looks like they’ve added even more!

Books on Sale: The Shocking Secret of a Guest at the Wedding by Victoria Alexander & More

The Shocking Secret of a Guest at the Wedding by Victoria Alexander is $1.99! And boy, is that a mouthful! This book is a historical romance and was also mentioned by Rachel of Northshire Bookstores in today’s post on Locally Sourced Romance. Some readers loved the back and forth banter between the hero and heroine, while others felt the characterization was a bit inconsistent at times. The book also includes a fake engagement and I know how much we love those here at the Bitchery!
