Forget Met Not by Julie Soto is $2.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! This was Soto’s contemporary romance debut and I mentioned it on a previous Hide Your Wallet. I liked this one! The book does switch between past and current events to show more of the main couple’s previous history, but I understand it could be a jarring format for the reader.

In this week’s podcast episode, Or, in this issue, Romantic Times Book Club. How many names did this magazine have?! Special and massive thanks to Kay Sisk for sending me this issue! Ready for an absolute mile and a half of WTFery from nearly 20 years ago? Oh, this is a weird memory lane, y’all. Brace yourself, hold on to your butt, and maybe also grab hold of someone else’s butt to get ready. You can … Continue reading Romantic Times Rewind: July 2004 Ads and Features →

RECOMMENDED: Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier is $3.99! I have such incredibly fond memories of this book. My best friend and I read this together in high school, but my school library only had one copy, so I had to wait my turn. It’s a lovely fantasy novel with some romance, but be warned that it’s a slow, slow burn. Definitely trigger warnings for rape/sexual assault.

Welcome back, y’all! We’re up to twenty of these already! Thanks for sticking around! We have some non-fiction this time around. I feel like non-fiction is one of my weakest genres to recommend in, or maybe I just don’t get an opportunity to recommend them a lot of the time. There’s also some fantasy fiction recs mixed in. Have you recommended any books lately? Or perhaps you picked up a book based on a recent … Continue reading Get Rec’d with Amanda – Volume 20 →

The Raven Tower by Ann Leckie is $2.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals and is being price-matched at select vendors. Leckie’s Ancillary Justice is a favorite with Carrie and SBTB commenters. Readers loved the Hamlet-inspired plot, but warn that the book contains first and second POV, which takes some getting used to.

The Harp of Kings by Juliet Marillier is $2.99! This is the start of a brand new series about bard siblings going on a quest. I love Marillier’s writing so much; I read her a lot in high school. I was able to get an early copy of this one before it came out and I was nostalgically enchanted by it.

RECOMMENDED: The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal is $2.99! Carrie read this one and gave it a B grade:
Even though at first I found this book to be slow going, I came to appreciate it for its intersectional feminism and its unabashed adoration of all the science and math that goes into making space flight possible.

Everyone, there are so many good books coming out this month that it’s really quite unfair. We have over forty titles we’re excited for below, but here are a few others we know you’re all anxious to read: Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell is releasing! (My roommate splurged on a life-sized cardboard cutout of Baz, btw.) Margaret Atwood as written a sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale called The Testaments. Rachel Caine continues her Great Library series with Sword and Pen . No … Continue reading September’s New Releases →

Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched. This book is talked about constantly in my monthly book group and readers love the premise. Though it’s on the shorter side. I know I was surprised at that when I bought it in physical form.
