Among my favorite things about Laurenston’s writing is how very affirming and inspiring and a whole lot of fun it is, because angry, fearless women make room for themselves, they get shit done, and they’re the heroines. More honey badgers, please.
RECOMMENDED: Act Like It by Lucy Parker is $1.99! If you haven’t read this yet, it was one of Sarah’s favorite reads in the past couple years. She says, “I mean, I could squee at you some MORE beyond my review but I think you’ve heard me already. I loved this book. You should read it. It’s delightful.”
Empire of Sand by Tasha Suri is $2.99! I believe this is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals. This is an adult fantasy novel with some romantic elements. Though this is marketed as adult fantasy, some readers it felt like it was more YA. Empire of Sand has been on my TBR pile for a while; have you read this one? Aarya highly recommends it.

The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory is $1.99! When I first saw this on sale, I thought it was a glitch in the matrix, so get it while you can. Elyse read this one and gave it a B:
The Wedding Date is charming and delightful, and it saved me from getting overly hysterical on a flight to Costa Rica. It’s not a perfect book, and I found myself giving the hero my “WTF” face a few times, but the awesomeness of the heroine thrilled me.
The Prince of Midnight by Laura Kinsale is $1.99! This historical romance has some Beauty and the Beast elements. Readers love the angsty, broody hero, while others thought there would be more action to the story. If you’ve read this one, tell us what you thought about it in the comments! It also has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.
The Pages of the Mind by Jeffe Kennedy is $2.99! This is a fantasy romance with an arranged marriage. Readers loved the scholarly heroine, but found that the second half of the book had a very different feel than the first half. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads. I will also mention that this was one of the reader recommended books from our Reader Rec Party at RT yesterday!
Undecided by Julianna Keyes is $1.99! This New Adult romance has been recommended to me several times and many readers say that it’s a NA that hasn’t overdosed on angst. However, others said it could be a little slow-going at times. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.
RECOMMENDED: Time Served by Julianna Keyes is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance with an ex-con hero and it was mentioned on a previous podcast with Jane, who recommends Keyes if you like “moody loner dudes:”
You kind of have two unlikeable people. They reconnect after he’s out of prison. She’s a lawyer. She’s trying to angle for a promotion within her law firm, and they’re working on this class action suit regarding medical illnesses caused in a, a factory. So she runs into him again. There’s a lot of attraction there, lot of unresolved issues, and she can’t really bring herself to admit that she wants him, so he says, you don’t have to admit it, you only have to say no, which she never does. I thought it was a very gritty book, and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
RECOMMENDED: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is $2.99! I believe this is a Kindle Daily Deal that’s being price matched elsewhere. Sarah reviewed this book and gave it an A-:
The TL;DR: this book is wonderful. It’s so much empathy and understanding and emotion layered into narrative form I can’t even tell you.
RECOMMENDED: Chase Me by Tessa Bailey is $2.99! I’m a little on the fence whether to call this a contemporary romance or a new adult romance, because I feel like the latter is trying to get its footing as a genre. But that’s beside the point. I thought the book was a quick read and it was fun, silly, and emotional at all the right moments. The hero, Louis, is definitely a beta hero, though some of the book’s events seemed a little unnecessary. If I had to assign it a grade, I’d give it a B.
