Mortal Follies by Alexis Hall is $1.99! Thanks to everyone who let us know about this deal! They also warned it could be a Kindle Daily Deal over from yesterday, so my apologies if it’s gone. We mentioned this on on Cover Awe, as well.
Found by the Lake Monster by Lillian Lark is $1.49 at Amazon and $2.99 elsewhere. I’m so curious about this Monstrous Matches series and the covers are really wonderful. However, I believe this one is a novella and is listed 1.5 in the series.
Lake Silence by Anne Bishop is $1.99! According to Amazon this is book one in a spin-off from Bishop’s The Others series. I’m sure some knowledge would be helpful here, but would love some comments below if you’ve read it!
RECOMMENDED: The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan is $2.99! Elyse and Redheadedgirl did a joint review of this book and they gave it an A:
RHG: So I’m giving this an A, because it was delightful and I adore the Fug Girls’ version of Harry and Kate and Wills that they’ve created in their heads (“He’s basically Great Britain’s answer to a red squirrel anyway”) and I like how they used that in writing this book. It also passed the “Did I stay up until 3 am to finish this? YES I DID” test. How about you?
Elyse: Totally an A. It wasn’t as heavy in the romance as I wanted but made up for it by being addictive. I too pulled the 3 a.m. read. Plus it’s really funny and heartfelt.
RECOMMENDED: In for a Penny by Rose Lerner is $1.99! We had a guest review for this one, where it earned a B+:
I was reading In for a Penny one evening and my husband asked me if I was coming to bed anytime soon. I made incoherent too-invested-in-my-book-for-sleep noises, and he looked at me knowingly.
Too Hard to Forget by Tessa Bailey is $1.99! This is the third book in the Romancing the Clarksons series, but it can be read on its own. I’m a Bailey fan, but this series wasn’t my favorite. There’s a forbidden relationship element that some people weren’t sold on, though many readers said the hero does an amaaaaazing grovel. It has 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.
Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton is $1.99! This was a Reese Witherspoon book club pick and I’m so happy Reese is showing some attention to romance and romance-adjacent titles. This book has dual timelines: 2017 Miami and 1958 Havana. Have you read this one?
Welcome to Lit Wicks! This is where we pair an author’s backlist or book theme with candles to really immerse yourself in the reading experience. All of the candles featured in these post are from Etsy, which means there is often worldwide shipping and that you’re supporting independent crafters and sellers. The Etsy candle rabbit hole is one I have gone down many times. This month, we’re diving into some urban fantasy books that we’ve … Continue reading Lit Wicks: Urban Fantasy→
Happy 2019, everyone! Are you ready for a new year of some great reading? I know we are. Especially, Elyse, who you should all hold personally responsible for the weight of your TBR pile this January. Here are a couple other titles releasing this month: Leigh Bardugo begins a new duology with King of Scars . The Wicked King by Holly Black comes out this month! Seanan McGuire continues her Wayward Children series with In An Absent Dream . Marie Force … Continue reading January’s New Releases→
Wilde in Love by Eloisa James is $1.99! This is the first book in The Wildes of Lindow Castle. Some readers DNF-ed this on Goodreads citing lack of chemistry between the characters or boredom. However, other fans of James were excited about this new series. Which camp are you in?
