Bet On It by Jodie Slaughter is $1.99! We mentioned this one in Hide Your Wallet. Definitely check trigger warnings as I remember lots of depictions of anxiety and PTSD. Slaughter handles them well, but they are central to the story!
Phoenix Unbound by Grace Draven is $1.99! I gave this one a C-, but I’d still recommend it with large caveats. 1) All of the trigger warnings. 2) It’s dense and the slow burn is quite slow. 3) There’s a magical infertility cure. Draven’s writing is always top notch and I’m curious about the next book, which follows a different couple.
We have Lightning Reviews this week! Hooray! This time, we have two contemporary romances – one with an older heroine and the other a modern marriage of convenience. We also have a sci-fi romance with a F/F relationship!
At one point in this book, the hero and heroine sip moonshine and slowly grind on the dance floor of a speakeasy, both of them dazed by the attraction that pings between them. The scene is languorous and sexy, and neatly epitomizes what I loved about White Whiskey Bargain. RECOMMENDED: Do You Want to Start a Scandal by Tessa Dare is $1.99! This is part of the Castles Ever After series, but can be read on its own. Elyse loved this book:
I loved Do You Want to Start a Scandal. It’s funny, it’s sexy and it’s got some Clue-like shenanigans going on. If you have better self control than I do, I recommend savoring this book rather than powering through in one sitting (good luck).
