RECOMMENDED: Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen is $2.99! This author became an auto-buy for me after I read this book as a part of a GoodReads reading challenge. I would liken this book to women’s fiction with a magical realism slant. It’s heartwarming and beautiful. I even wrote a Keeper Shelf squee for it; that’s how much I love this book.

My Lady Notorious by Jo Beverley is $3.99! This is the first book in the Malloren series and features a heroine who disguises herself as a man. I feel like this is one of those books that readers have really fond memories of reading. Do you? I’m ashamed to say that I haven’t read any Beverley titles, but I’ve always been curious about this one.

RECOMMENDED: Sweet Talkin’ Lover by Tracey Livesay is $1.99! Carrie read this one and gave it a B+:
Despite its awkward spots, this book charmed me with food and clothes, and with the friendships, the complicated families, the glory that is Olivia Pope from Scandal, and the emphasis on female mentorship, especially but not exclusively among women of color.

Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey is $1.99! I’m a huge Bailey fan, but this one didn’t do it for me, mainly because it had some tropes that aren’t my bag. If you enjoyed this one, feel free to leave a comment below!

A Shocking Delight by Jo Beverly is $1.99! This is the fifteenth book in the Company of Rogues series, and the hero in this one is a character who showed up in previous books. So this may be a situation where it can be read as a standalone, but you might get a deeper reading experience if you’ve read the other books. What do you think?

There is a hefty amount of frustrating miscommunication mentioned by some reviewers. But if you’re looking to round out your Beverley collection, grab this sale while you can.

Oh, boy. May is an expensive month, with twenty books that we’re excited for this month. But, there are some other great books releasing that didn’t make our personal TBR piles: Sarah J. Maas continues her A Court of Thorns and Roses series with A Court of Wings and Ruin . Paula Hawkins is back with Into the Water . The To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy is reaching its conclusion with Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny … Continue reading May’s New Releases →
When Jo Beverley passed away last month and we were discussing recommendations, several people mentioned Emily and the Dark Angel. I realized I had a copy but had never read it. It was just the sort of charming, quietly hilarious comfort read I needed. It has the best meet-cute I’ve read in a long time, too. Emily Grantwich is walking through her hometown, Melton Mowbray, when a man bumps into her. Another woman in an upstairs window, … Continue reading Emily and the Dark Angel by Jo Beverley →
The that historical romance master Jo Beverley has died. Oh, my gosh, does that make me sad to hear. From from all her Word Wench sisters: There was no one quite like Jo, with her calm English good sense and quiet warmth and dry wit, not to mention her taste for port wine and very dark chocolate. She and I were friends for almost 30 years, and our careers have always tracked very closely. In fact, … Continue reading Farewell and Thank You, Jo Beverley →
