The Widow by Fiona Barton is $1.99! This is a thriller that Elyse really enjoyed! It earned an A grade asa Lightning Review:
I don’t want to say much more about this book because it will ruin it–that’s why I opted for a lightning review even though I could talk about the The Widow for hours. I want every reader to experience the delicious twists and turns this thriller offers.
More or Less a Marchioness by Anna Bradley is $2.99! This is the first book in the Somerset Sisters series and came out just last month. Readers warn that it does take a while for the hero and heroine to finally interact, but once they do, it’s a pretty lovely romance.
The Dream Hunter by Laura Kinsale is $1.99 at Amazon and Barnes & Noble! This is a standalone historical romance and many reviews say this book is completely bonkers. Some also note that the audio is particularly good. Have you read this one? Is it as crazysauce as everyone says?
Fast Track by Julie Garwood is $1.99! This romance is part of her romantic suspense/contemporary romance Buchanan-Renard series. I haven’t read any of Garwood’s contemporaries, but they do come highly recommended. Readers wanted more suspense from the story, but others enjoyed the friends-to-lovers element of the romance.
RECOMMENDED: Temptations of a Wallflower by Eva Leigh is $1.99 at Amazon! Maybe there will be some price-matching later in the day! Elyse read this one and gave it an A-:
Temptations of a Wallflower is very very sexy (people talking openly about sex and finding what works for them together is sexy) and it’s also very smart. There were a few things I still wanted, though. Overall, I found the third book in the Wicked Quills of London series to be eminently readable and very hot, and I highly recommend it.
Maybe This Time by Jennifer Snow is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance with a single mom heroine and a hockey coach hero. Readers say the romance is low on angst, if that’s your bag. However, some readers didn’t agree with some of the heroine’s actions. If you like Snow’s contemporaries, some of her other books are also on sale!
The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley is $1.99 at Amazon! This book was published in 2011, and has a 4-star average on GoodReads.
The heroine returns to her childhood summer home in Cornwall to scatter her sister’s ashes and finds a portal to the 18th century in the rose garden, and there’s a pretty hot dude back there, too. In time, I mean, and also in the rose garden.
While your book budget may have gotten a small break last month, this month is about to do some serious damage. We’ve picked over twenty (twenty!) books that we’re really excited about reading. However, we also know there are some major books coming out this June that are on many readers’ radar: Nalini Signh’s new addition to her Psy-Changeling series, Allegiance of Honor The final book in Kristen Callihan’s Darkest London series, Forevermore Book nine in Naomi Novik’s … Continue reading June’s New Releases→
RECOMMENDED: Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica is $1.99 at Amazon and $2.99 elsewhere! This is a mystery/thriller that Elyse really enjoyed, giving it an A grade, though she does give a trigger warning for child abuse in the book:
I love a thriller that makes me think, makes me question the narrator and isn’t just about who buried the body in the woods. Pretty Baby is all those things, and combined with exquisite writing and an ending that comes together beautifully it was an A read for me.
RECOMMENDED: The Curse of Lord Stanstead by Mia Marlowe is 99c at most vendors! This is a historical romance with magic and Elyse gave this book a B+:
The Curse of Lord Stanstead is a good fit for readers who are burned out on straight Regency romances and need a dash of spice, or for paranormal readers who are sick of brooding vampires. If The Order of the Muse series follows the usual formula of the second book being stronger than the first, I will be very happy indeed. I already have The Madness of Lord Westfall downloaded on my ereader, ready to go.
RECOMMENDED: Bringing Home the Bad Boy by Jessica Lemmon is $1.99! I bought this when it was n sale last spring and enjoyed it! This is a contemporary romance and the first in a series. The hero is a tattoo artist, single father, and a widower, and I just know that has to be someone’s catnip. The heroine also appears to be the best friend of the hero’s late wife, which I know isn’t everyone’s favorite trope. You have been forewarned. It also has a 4-star rating on GoodReads.
