Hasn’t it been ages since we discussed new releases? I feel like it has. Time either moves too quickly or at a glacial pace in the reading world. Down below are a ton of awesome upcoming books and I think we covered most of the big releases. However, there is one that many of you are anticipating that didn’t make our personal picks: The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory has all sorts of enemies-to-lovers vibes. Don’t forget to … Continue reading July’s New Releases →

RECOMMENDED: The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare is $1.99! This is the first book in the Girl Meets Duke series. Elyse really loved this book and gave it an A grade:
I totally recommend reading The Duchess Deal, but preferably while sober so you can really appreciate all of it. It’s the perfect blend of two of my favorite fairytale tropes, it’s got a hero who never an alpha-hole, it’s funny, and it’s got female friendship. What more could you want?

For November’s Covers and Cocktails, I’m doing something a bit different. I’m using an anthology! Seasons of Sorcery is an anthology with four different fantasy romance novellas. A couple of the novellas are set in worlds established already in an author’s series, like with Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin series. But I was able to read these just fine without too much knowledge of the connected worlds or characters. Each story has a “seasonal” thread, which … Continue reading Covers & Cocktails: Seasons of Shots →

Or find a new-to-us author on a list … Continue reading Book Beat: A Fantasy Anthology, Librarian Hero, & More →
Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep is the first book in a fantasy series that features a badass female gladiator on a quest to reclaim the throne from her murderous cousin. It’s tremendous fun, although it wraps up quickly. Lady Everleigh Saffira Winter Blair is a low ranking member of the royal family of Bellona. She’s never going to inherit the crown and, in a world that values magic, she has no real magical power. … Continue reading Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep →

His Wicked Reputation by Madeline Hunter is $1.99 at Amazon and $2.99 elsewhere! This is the first book in her Wicked Trilogy and involves a hero and heroine with a very antagonistic relationship, which many readers loved. However, some readers mentioned there was more telling than showing. It has a 3.7-star rating on Goodreads.

My Lady Quicksilver by Bec McMaster is $1.99! This is the third book in the London Steampunk series. I’m not sure if it can be read as a standalone, so maybe the Bitchery can help with that question. Readers loved the world McMaster created, but some found they didn’t enjoy the main couple as much as previous books. The first book is also on sale for $1.88!

My Fair Princess by Vanessa Kelly is 99c! This book came out in August and made our new releases post for that month! It’s a My Fair Lady retelling, which I know will appeal to some. Readers loved the enemies to lovers romance so much and many described it as a slow burn. However, some readers had some issues with the heroine’s characterization.

The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold is $1.99! Ms Bookjunkie on Twitter said it’s one of her favorite fantasy books. Some readers felt their interest in the main character waned, but overall, they enjoyed the plot. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.
