It’s pretty cover time! Cover design by Tammy Seidick Tara: I think this is the first cover from a lesfic publisher that made me say “whoa”. I really like the use of colour on it. Carrie: WHOA The color, the blocking – it looks so clean and modern and also sultry as hell. Tara: Right?! I’m in love. Susan: Oh I like that! Catherine: So dramatic! Amanda: Would love to see this as part of … Continue reading Cover Awe: Such Good Hair→
Welcome to Cover Awe! Last time, we had some suggestions to include the names of the cover artists. We’ll be doing that going forward, though most books we feature that haven’t been released yet don’t allow us to “take a look” inside the book via Amazon or Google Books to check the copyright page or book jacket. Just an FYI! If you do happen to locate the cover artist, let us know and we’ll update … Continue reading Cover Awe: Color Schemes, Intimacy, & More→
What I found the most interesting about this book was how the blind hero was written. He hadn’t always been blind – he was struck by a disease while he was in the Navy – and the narrative describes with abundant detail how he moves through a world he can’t see, but he still perceives. And I really appreciated that she doesn’t magically cure him of his blindness. Love doesn’t cure all things, and this is a part of who he is now.
The Trouble with Grace by Jenn LeBlanc is 99c at Amazon and iBooks! This historical romance serves as a prequel for the next book and seems to feature a triad of sorts. Readers recommend this one for those wanting a different sort of historical romance, while others said it was hard to get invested in the romance.
The best and worst thing I could say about this series is that it’s very much like Carriger’s other series. It’s the worst thing in that there’s not a lot new in here except that it seems to be a series that gets us out of alternate universe England and into the rest of Empire. It’s the best thing because honestly Carriger’s world and style are just pure yummy candy. If you give me a five pound bag of M&M’s, it’s not like I’m going to get to the bottom and say, “Gosh darn it, this is still M&M’s!”
Dressed to Kiss is $2.99! This is an anthology featuring romances by Madeline Hunter, Caroline Linden, Megan Frampton, and Myretta Robens. Readers love that all four stories have a common connection and seems to be rather well-received on Goodreads.
