The follow-up to Donut Fall in Love is an opposites-attract romance with a deeply introverted heroine and a larger-than-life hero. Although it can be read as a standalone, I enjoyed revisiting characters from the first novel. While I loved the romance, the depictions of the hero’s job fell flat, sometimes pulling me out of the story. Any Rogue Will Do by Bethany Bennett is $1.99! This is book one in the Misfits of Mayfair series and features a fake relationship. Book two was recently featured in an edition of Cover Awe. I’m actually pretty curious about this series, if anyone has read it and would like to share their thoughts.
RECOMMENDED: Donut Fall in Love by Jackie Lau is $1.99! Catherine gave this one a Squee grade:
It is such a perfectly balanced book, too. It doesn’t just skim over the surface of difficult things, but it also doesn’t drag you down into the depths of grief, either. I loved that it is such a light, funny, hot read, but also a story that invites reflection.
You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle is $2.99! This contemporary romance was featured in a previous Hide Your Wallet by both Aarya and Catherine. I’ve heard good things about this one from fellow romance readers, though some did find the barbs the leads throw at one another to be particularly mean at times.
RECOMMENDED: The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare is $1.99 and a Kindle Daily Deal! There was some debate on how the heroine’s trauma was handled in this one (feel free to check Goodreads and the comments of Carrie’s review). It earned an A- grade:
It’s fun, it has pathos, there are clothes both hilariously awful and droolingly lovely, it contains found family, and it has plentiful humor. A keeper, for sure.
