RECOMMENDED: Hope Flames by Jaci Burton is $2.99! This is the first book in the contemporary romance Hope series. Elyse read this one and it earned a B grade:
The hero of this book is a police officer with a police dog named Boomer. The heroine is a vet with a pit-bull puppy named Annie and a lab named Daisy.
Hope Flames was light and fun and a nice break from the angsty stuff I’ve been reading. And also PUPPIES!
RECOMMENDED: A Notorious Vow by Joanna Shupe is $1.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals and it’s being price-matched. This was my first Shupe and I loved it. Feel free to read my review, where I gave it an A-:
This book is a gem. It gave me those starry-eyed, book-drunk feelings that were very reminiscent of when I finished my first Lisa Kleypas historical.
Before I get into this romance, I want to state that I don’t really follow much of the Olympics. I get my Olympic news from my roommate and from Twitter, which means I can’t really comment on the accuracy of how the events are portrayed in this book. However, I did feel like reading a romance between two veteran Olympians would help me contribute to the Olympic spirit currently permeating every one of my personal … Continue reading Shot on Gold by Jaci Burton→
This edition of Cover Awe is all about acceptable abs and man-titty! What covers get it right for us? Here are a handful of some A+ examples! Sarah: I really like this because he’s big and strong but also has chest hair and no discernible ab pattern. He broadcasts a different kind of strength – which fit the character. Amanda: YOU PROMISED CHEST HAIR AND I SEE NONE! Sarah: Right here: Sarah: I may be … Continue reading Cover Awe: Manchests→
Something Wonderful by Judith McNaught is $2.99 at Amazon! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and so far, isn’t being price-matched. Some readers had mixed feelings about the ending/epilogue, while others loved the tortured hero. This book was originally published in 1988 and recently received a new cover design. What do you think?
Lab Girl by Hope Jahren is $3.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched. The KDD today features Goodreads Choice Awards finalists and there are some pretty awesome selections, if you want to check out the sales! Many readers loved this memoir, but warn that the audio version is a little too dramatic.
FINALLY! That is my reaction to this book. I have been sitting through three books to get to this story and it was totally worth it! The book follows Chelsea as she draws up the list for her perfect man and the characteristics that he will possess. None of them are physical traits – it’s more about lifestyle and personal beliefs that concern Chelsea. She doesn’t want someone with a crazy-ex, works nights or weekends, … Continue reading Love After All by Jaci Burton→
Maybe I shouldn’t have read the three books in this series that come before this book? But because I like to read series in order and the first book had been sitting on my bookshelf for months, I thought I would read the others before I read and reviewed this one. My main problems with this book are the same I had with the others in the series. But first let me tell you what … Continue reading Love After All by Jaci Burton→
Hope Ignites by Jaci Burton is $3.99 at most vendors! This is a contemporary small town romance between a rancher and an actress. Readers loved the chemistry between the two characters and the opposites attract plot. However, some warn that the hero could be a bit of a jerk. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.
RECOMMENDED: The Bees by Laline Paull is $1.99 at select vendors! I LOVED this book. Margaret Atwood, whom I worship like a saint, tweeted about the book, calling it a mix between a Cinderella story and an Arthurian tale. I knew I had to read it. On GoodReads, I gave it a 4-star rating and a mini review:
This book was unlike anything I’ve read before, and I found it both unique and mesmerizing. However, the last fifty pages seemed to lack the care and craft of the ones before it. The ending was over in a rush and I felt Flora’s story should have continued on with more detail. Regardless, I was impressed with Paull’s storytelling and her ability to make bee life interesting.
Also, it’s legitimately about bees. Like bees that think and talk and exist in their strange bee society. It so weird, but so good. That’s all I can say.
The Kent Brothers Trilogy by Jaci Burton is 99c! It’s that time of year again when holiday romances come out of the wood works. The trilogy features all three of the Kent Brothers novellas. The stories feature a second chance romance, a single mom heroine, and a divorced hero. Something for everyone! Though the bundle lacks actual reviews on GR, it has a rating of 4.3 stars.
