We have a very special Hide Your Wallet today! In celebration of our anniversary, we’re taking a look back at some of the major releases of 2005, some of which really changed the game, started trends, or even went on to become a Netflix series. What 2005 titles do you remember fondly? Which releases do you feel made a lasting impact on you or the genre?

The Library of the Unwritten by A.J. Hackwith is $1.99! Carrie read this one and gave it a C+, noting it was the wrong book for her at the time, as it’s dark and rather angsty. Have you read it?

When No One Is Watching by Alyssa Cole is $2.99! I thought we had both reviewed this one and featured it before on sale, but I couldn’t find anything. I know we were all excited about this one. Did you read it?

The Jackal by J.R. Ward is $1.99! This is book one in the Black Dagger Brotherhood spin-off series: Prison Camp. I fell off this particular bandwagon years ago, so I’m unsure if this spin-off can be started on its own and if the series has changed much since the original books.

Gabriel’s Inferno by Sylvain Reynard is $1.99! This is an erotica forbidden romance that was later made into a PassionFlix movie. I could never get into Reynard’s books. Are you a fan?

Heat Stroke by Tessa Bailey is 99c at Amazon! This is the second book in the Beach Kingdom series and this one is a m/m opposites attract romance. Expect lots of steamy situations and dirty talk, but note that this romance is on the shorter side.

RECOMMENDED: Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel is $1.99! It’s a scifi novel with some great female characters. Readers say that though this scifi is a little darker and less “feel good,” they loved it. However, some felt a bulk of the book was just setup and information dumping for the next book. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads. Elyse enjoyed this one and I really loved the audiobook.

Fans of the site know that I’m not afraid to jump around within a series when it comes to my reading. I picked up The Savior having only read a few of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books before, and this is book seventeen. While I was able to follow everything that was going on (Ward provides a helpful glossary in the beginning of the book and offers context clues), I do think that this is a … Continue reading The Savior by JR Ward →
Consumed by JR Ward is an angsty contemporary romance with lots of dark themes and a hint of romantic suspense. I really liked the heroine, but the hero never clicked with me, and I felt like there was too much going on with the plot at times. Anne Ashburn is a New Brunswick firefighter who loves her job and carries a torch for her coworker, Danny McGuire. Anne and Danny had a mind-blowing one night … Continue reading Consumed by JR Ward →

Can you believe it’s October? I can’t! But a new month equals new books. Below are a handful of titles that the SBTB crew wants to read, but here are a couple more books that are probably on your TBR piles this month: Jasmine Guillory returns with The Proposal . Shades of Wicked is a new spin-off series by Jeaniene Frost. Nalini Singh’s Archangel’s Prophecy releases this month. Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter is the first book in … Continue reading October’s New Releases →
