Tara was kind enough to alert me to the existence of a book about Charlotte Lucas, who is Elizabeth Bennet’s friend in Pride and Prejudice. We had so many feelings about this very strange book, which involves Gothic emotion and SO MUCH SEX, plus at least two flights across the moors, which I can only assume were dutifully wuthering. For those who are rusty on their Austen, here’s the background: Charlotte Lucas agrees to marry … Continue reading Lucas by Elna Holst →
Looking Inside is one of the best erotic contemporaries I’ve read in a really long time. It’s not a perfect book, but it worked for me on every level. I devoured it. Basically if I had to take a shot for every one of the Elyse-catnip elements that shows up in this book, I’d be on the floor singing “Red Solo Cup.” If you put this book under a box being held up by a stick, it … Continue reading Looking Inside by Beth Kery →
Recently, we’ve had a couple emails and comments about different types of erotica and erotic romance that stray from the rich billionaire formula. The first request is for books that have an extra element of sex in them without being overtly in the BDSM camp: You’ve reviewed a lot of books with non-traditional sexualities or BDSM themes, which I appreciate. However I rarely seem to find my personal preference – very mild kinkiness, vanilla with … Continue reading The Rec League: Historical Erotica & Erotica without Billionaires →
I really struggled with how to review and grade Crosstown Crush by Cara McKenna because I personally found that the kink described in the novel was not for me. Despite that, the book is well-written with likeable characters and I thought that McKenna did a good job of explaining that kink to people who are unfamiliar with it. The book centers around married couple Samira and Mike. Mike has a very particular kink–cuckolding. For those … Continue reading Crosstown Crush by Cara McKenna →
RECOMMENDED: The Chocolate Touch by Laura Florand is $2.99! This contemporary romance was a Sizzling Book Club pick in September 2013. For many, Florand is an auto-buy author and the descriptions of chocolate were downright dangerous. A few readers felt that some scenes dialed up the angst too high, but the book maintains a 4-star rating on GoodReads.

Owning Violet by Monica Murphy is 99c! This is the first book in the Fowler Sisters erotic romance series. It was also featured in December’s edition of Hide Your Wallet. I actually bought the book, though it’s in TBR purgatory right now. The heroine is an heiress to a cosmetics company (along with her two sisters) and the hero is a co-worker. So if workplace romances are your catnip, look out. Some readers felt the heroine was a bit of a push over, while others thought this was a great start to a new erotica series. It has a 3.7-star rating on Goodreads.

If you don’t remember, I reviewed the first book in the Game Maker series, The Professional and enjoyed it with the caveat of fully committing myself to the crazy. Now that we’re another book into this strange world of erotic Russians, I was prepared. I knew what to expect and part of me was actually looking forward to seeing the ante upped in cracktastic glory. That is not what happened, which is probably why it … Continue reading The Master by Kresley Cole →
RECOMMENDED: Blamed by Edie Harris is 99c! And I can honestly say that it’s worth the damn dollar. I’d even pay five whole dollars for this. Maybe more. This is a romantic suspense and I read the book late last year, giving it an A–:
It truly is a beautifully written book. It’s emotional and engaging and truly exemplifies what I want in my romantic suspenses.

Afterburn & Aftershock by Sylvia Day is on sale with a couple different prices at a couple different places. At Amazon and Barnes & Noble, it’s $3.68 (odd, I know) and at Google:Play, it’s $1.99. I’m sure we all know which number we’d prefer! Scribd is also scheduled to start carrying this title in August, so mark your calendars! This is a two-story set that’s been compiled after each novella was released separately. Fans of Day seem to be split on Afterburn & Aftershock, though it does have a 3.9-star rating on GoodReads. Any Day readers care to compare this set with her other books?

The Saint by Tiffany Reisz is $1.99! This is an erotic romance and acts as a prequel series to her Original Sinners series. I’m not sure if it’s better to read these before Original Sinners (this “prequel series” technically was published after the first series), or after to augment your knowledge of the characters. I adored reading The Siren ( A | BN | K | G | AB | Au ) and Elyse gave the book a great review, so I won’t turn down more of Nora and Søren. Any other fans of the series in the Bitchery?

RECOMMENDED: Season for Surrender by Theresa Romain is $2.99 right now at most if not all vendors. This book was a Sizzling Book Club Pick, and Sarah loved it all kinds of ways. It takes place at a scandalous holiday house party, and features a hero who learns how to be a better person, and a heroine who isn’t taking any crap from anyone. As Sarah wrote when she announced this book as the club selection, “Y’all, they are in the library a great deal, and those are some of the best scenes in the book.” The book is also on sale to promote a Hero v. Hero romance tournament by Kensington, so feel free to vote when it opens February 9th!
