Generally speaking, I do not cry while reading. Oh, I’ll want to cry. I’m the opposite of stoic, but I’ve become skilled at holding back tears for one reason and one reason only: glasses. Once I start weeping, my frames turn foggy and any attempt to wipe them with my shirt generally makes it worse. Then, I’ll have to make a decision: do I continue reading without glasses and squint at my tablet, or do … Continue reading Open House by Ruby Lang →
Reading Red, White & Royal Blue is an excellent reminder about why a couple’s chemistry isn’t the only thing that matters in a romance. This book has received positive buzz, and for good reason: the enemies-to-lovers romance is swoonworthy, the banter is witty and laugh-out-loud funny, and the epistolary aspect is a delightful surprise. Despite how much I enjoyed the relationship between Alex (the son of the American president) and Henry (a British prince), there … Continue reading Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston →
Startup Fiancé by Shilpa Mudiganti is a short contemporary romance that features an arranged marriage, corporate rivals, and an enemies-to-lovers storyline. It’s a quick read, but the length inhibited all of the emotional development I craved. Arav Shetty and Nisha Jain are rivals; both are founders of successful app start-ups, Tech Notes and Note Nirvana, respectively. Reading about characters who developed note-taking apps made me realize how much my loves-planners-and-lists brain wants a good note-taking … Continue reading Startup Fiance by Shilpa Mudiganti →
This is what I would call a quiet sort of romance. I loved the hero and heroine, and I loved the layers of repair and reevaluation that go on during the course of the story. There is not a lot of massive, tumultuous tension between them, but there is a lot to undo and restore. Trix Lane is an aerialist starring in a theatre production (think Cirque du Soleil) trying to piece her life and … Continue reading Making Up by Lucy Parker →
If you like enemies-to-lovers romance, then you probably want to read When a Marquess Loves a Woman. It’s got all my prerequisites for a good Regency romance–loads of sexual tension, a heroine who owns her shit, and epic sass-battles. Also canoodling in libraries. Also a stock market crash. There’s a lot going on in this book. Maxwell Hardwick and Juliet White, Lady Granworth, didn’t start out as nemeses, and they have a complicated personal history. Max … Continue reading When a Marquess Loves a Woman by Vivienne Lorret →
Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

This HaBO is from Dianna, who is looking for a category romance about some dueling TV reviewers. I’ve been meaning to write to you for help for a while finding a book I loved and lost sometime in the mid to late 90s. It was most likely a Harlequin Temptation, from the era when they had the borderless front cover art and yellowy back cover. The story is about two TV movie reviewers falling in … Continue reading HaBO: TV Reviewers Sending Hot Anonymous Letters →

The Wedding Vow by Cara Connelly is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance and is the second book in her Save the Date series. For those with a hankering for billionaire heroes, this book’s got ’em. This is also an enemies-to-lovers story. Readers loved the back and forth between the characters and the fact the book can be read as a standalone installment. However, the hero has a bit of a secret that not all readers liked. It has a 4.1-star rating on GR.
