RECOMMENDED: The Duke Who Didn’t by Courtney Milan is 99c! Catherine gave this a squee grade:
The Duke Who Didn’t was always going to be a book that made me happy. Humour, food, and a gentle hero who just wants the heroine to be less stressed are a pretty good formula for getting onto my keeper shelf.

RECOMMENDED: A Morbid Taste for Bones by Ellis Peters is $3.99 at Amazon! This is book one in The Chronicles of Brother Cadfael series, which I remember Sarah enjoying. Here’s what she said:
This book and the next few books of the series got me through the scariest parts of early Quarantimes.

The Princess Knight by G.A. Aiken is $2.99 and it’s part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals! This is book two in the Scarred Earth Saga. I loved and reviewed the first book and Lara reviewed this one, giving it a B:
The cast of characters EXPLODES in this book. Pay attention to each and every new character; they are all important. We pop into a lot of different POVs which can be a little dizzying, but adds beautifully to the immersive world building of it all.

The City Baker’s Guide to Country Living by Louise Miller is $1.99! Admittedly, this sounds all sorts of comforting and adorable and Miller’s books have been previous staff picks at the bookstore where I work. However, I’m always iffy on books that are positioned as women’s fiction. Do you have any experience with reading Miller’s titles?

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: An Extraordinary Union by Alyssa Cole is $2.99! This could expire ASAP. Simply put, GET THIS BOOK. Sarah completely loved it:
First, yes, you should absolutely read this book immediately, if you haven’t already. There is so much happening in the conflict within each of the protagonists, between the protagonists, and around them and their allies and enemies, I can’t possibly discuss all of it, but please know: if you are a reader (and why else would you be here, right?) this book is a marvelous, intelligent, respectful, breathtaking treat for your brain.

This time, we have two different graphic novels being reviewed by Carrie and a historical mystery series Sarah can’t stop talking about!
I’ve mentioned a few times that I’m making my way through the Cadfael mysteries. Whenever the quarantimes get too overwhelming, I head off to Wales-adjacent England in the 1100s to hang out with a former solider now monk who brews wine and herbal remedies, solves murders, and often unites star-crossed lovers (and sometimes flirts with ladies, too). There’s a soothing, slow-paced atmosphere to the Cadfael series, like the literary version of dust sparkles over a … Continue reading The Leper of Saint Giles by Ellis Peters →
