Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas is $1.99! Ellen reviewed this one and gave it a C+:
Overall, even though I did enjoy reading most of this book, I was left feeling kind of lukewarm due to the stalling plot and not quite satisfying romance. I think if you have been reading and liking the series so far there is plenty to like here, especially if you are interested in spending more time with the characters we have already been introduced to.

A Treason of Truths by Ada Harper is $1.99! This is a queer, sci-fi romance and the second book in the Whisper series. I think it can be read as a stand alone, but the main characters in this one, I think, were secondary characters in the first book. I mentioned this on a previous Book Beat, where it was described as “Queer Girl Die Hard on a floating city.”

RECOMMENDED: Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas is $3.99 and part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals! So many readers were looking forward to this book when it first released, and Carrie gave it a B+:
Devil in Spring was so delightful that I read it slowly because I had to take frequent squee breaks. I truly cannot sufficiently express how overjoyed this book made me. That said, I don’t think it will be everyone’s catnip, because the main character sometimes seems overly young and naïve, even given her character quirks.

RECOMMENDED: Blamed by Edie Harris is $2.99! I loved this romantic suspense, especially the part where the heroine thinks the hero is dead and the moment where they reunite. But I will warn you that it’s incredibly violent. I gave it an A-:
This book was an amazingly pleasant surprise and I lost track of the number of good book noises I made while reading it. I’m still getting my feet wet when it comes to romantic suspense, but I picked a good book to try out.

Happy New Year! And we’re kicking off this month with some pretty awesome historical romances. That’s right; We’ve got new Eloisa James and Beverly Jenkins. Plus starts to new series from Lorelei James, Jay Crownover, and Roni Loren! Aside from books, Sarah would also like you to know that she’s been reading “any and all websites about arranging furniture in new spaces, and organizing cabinets. All of those. I’ve probably read them twice.” What are you … Continue reading January’s New Releases →
Before I start talking about the book, let me preface it with TRIGGER WARNING TRIGGER WARNING TRIGGER WARNING. While I may not discuss it heavily in the review, there is very graphic violence (mostly as backstory) and rape as backstory. If either of those are triggering for you in any way, I suggest forgoing this book. If not, please read on. For those who may remember, I reviewed the first Blood Money book – Blamed – and I enjoyed … Continue reading Ripped by Edie Harris →
DISCLAIMER: It’s a big month, ya’ll! Budget accordingly!
RECOMMENDED: Blamed by Edie Harris is 99c! And I can honestly say that it’s worth the damn dollar. I’d even pay five whole dollars for this. Maybe more. This is a romantic suspense and I read the book late last year, giving it an A–:
It truly is a beautifully written book. It’s emotional and engaging and truly exemplifies what I want in my romantic suspenses.

This book was an amazingly pleasant surprise and I lost track of the number of good book noises I made while reading it. I’m still getting my feet wet when it comes to romantic suspense, but I picked a good book to try out. It opens with the heroine post-torture. So I’d definitely issue a trigger warning for violence. Later on, there are some semi-graphic descriptions of said torture. Admittedly, dropping me into the middle of … Continue reading Blamed by Edie Harris →
