I know we’re not especially far into 2019 yet, but We Set the Dark on Fire is hands down my favorite book of the year so far. Arena grew on me once I accepted that the story I was reading is less complicated than the story promised by the back of the book. There’s no big dark conspiracy to unravel, but there is a satisfying story about empowerment and self-actualization in a world dominated by corporate greed.
