Update: I still need a vacation and am not getting one till January, so I’m reading all the beach-y things. Enter Holiday in the Hamptons. Sarah Morgan is one of my go-to Happy Feels authors, but I was lukewarm on Holiday in the Hamptons because of weak internal conflict and a heroine who, on occasion, baffled and irritated me. Felicity “Fliss” Knight grew up with a horribly emotionally abusive father, so her summer vacations in the Hamptons … Continue reading Holiday in the Hamptons by Sarah Morgan →
Jill Shalvis is my go-to feel good author for contemporaries. I was stoked to see she had a new series coming out (Lost and Found Sisters is the first book in the Wildstone series). I enjoyed the book, but strictly speaking, it’s not a romance novel. So I enjoyed what I got -but I didn’t get what I expected. While I can’t fault the book for being tagged as a romance at places like Goodreads, I … Continue reading Lost and Found Sisters by Jill Shalvis →

For me, knitting is a comfort activity. It stimulates me creatively, but the repetitive motions of knitting and purling are incredibly soothing. I don’t knit as much in the summer, but now that fall is upon us (at least, it is here), I want the cozy feeling of curling up with a movie and my latest knitting project. When I picked up The Knitting Diaries, I was hoping for the same feeling of coziness. Normally … Continue reading The Knitting Diaries by Debbie Macomber, Susan Mallery, and Christina Skye →
It’s time for Wednesday Links! Also, is anyone else having trouble keeping track of what day it is? Elyse keeps thinking it’s Thursday. I keep thinking we’ve reached the weekend. … We’re about halfway through our RITA® Reader Challenge! There are still several slots open, either due to a book not having reviewers or no reviews coming in on a book’s due date. Just look for the empty gray-shaded cells. Here’s a brief rundown on how to … Continue reading Links: Ballet, Jane the Virgin, & Dogs! →
The Obsession by Nora Roberts is some creepy suspense, followed by a chunk of contemporary small-town romance, followed up by a dash more suspense. It’s a strange book in that the suspense plot isn’t very evenly distributed, but Roberts’ writing is so excellent that I didn’t care. Roberts’ books are filled with fabulous detail–from competence pr0n to home remodeling pr0n to descriptions of old barns–that my brain just goes into vacation mode. Her novels, even … Continue reading The Obsession by Nora Roberts →
