RECOMMENDED: Opening Up by Lauren Dane is 99c! I love the covers of this entire series. This is the first book in the Ink & Chrome erotic contemporary series. Elyse gave the book an A-:
This book was incredibly sexy and often very funny. It made me duck out on the coworker I was traveling with: “I’d love to go to TGI Fridays with you, but PJ and Asa have a new leather cane they’ve been dying to try out and also I need to know how his weenus piercing feels without a condom, so I’m gonna just head up to my room, ‘kay, thanks.”

Family Jewels is a mystery that features two best friends who own a landscaping/ plant nursery business and also solve mysteries. It’s the first in a new series, an offshoot of the Rose Gardner mystery series, but you don’t have to have read the previous series to enjoy this book. There’s also a strong romantic subplot and lots and lots of unresolved sexual tension. The violence takes place off screen so it’s a non-scary, non-gory … Continue reading Family Jewels by Denise Grover Swank →
The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan is 99c at Amazon! What the heck price-matching! This is the fourth book in the Game On series. I, for one, love Callihan’s writing, and the previous book in the series, The Game Plan, is one of my favorites. However, reviewers say the second half of this one is full of lots of drama and angst.

RECOMMENDED: It Happened One Wedding Sarah really enjoyed this book and gave it an A- by Julie James is $1.99! . She felt the ending was a bit abrupt, but that seemed to be her only complaint. She also really loved the heroine:
I love the heroine, Sidney, because she is strong, she is confident, and she is competent, and she knows all those things about herself. Moreover, even though she went through a humiliating breakup that crumpled her a bit, she’s determined to start over, and find someone right for her. And she never entertains the idea that she’s doing it wrong, or that she shouldn’t be openly pursuing the possibility of a long term relationship.

Only You by Denise Grover Swank is 99c! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched elsewhere. Elyse wrote a Lightning Review of this one and gave it a C-, citing there were some major boundary issues. But she also realized this romance might appeal to others:
There’s a lot of reasons why readers will like this book. The romance is hot and funny, there’s a ton of home renovation/HGTV pr0n, and Kevin adopts a tiny kitten he finds. Plus the relationship between Holly and her grandma, and the subject of dealing with dementia, was genuine and well-done.

This edition of lightning reviews covers three very different books! There’s the much-awaited Marrying Winterborne, a Titanic-esque retelling in a science fiction setting, and a contemporary renovation romance.
Only You had the potential to be a sexy romantic comedy in the same vein as Jill Shalvis but I had a huge issue with one of the characters. Holly Greenwood is a wedding planner with a lot of talent and a boss-from-hell, Nicole. She’s also dealing with putting the grandma who raised her in a nursing home due to dementia. So when a sexy new neighbor moves in across the street, she doesn’t think … Continue reading Only You by Denise Grover Swank →
