Welcome back! For me, I think things are best described as busy, but boring. My wedding dress has officially been dropped off for alterations, our household is obsessed with Hades II, and I’m already eager for winter vacation. The tourism in my area is about to hit its peak and I don’t love it. That being said, October is absolutely flying. Does anyone else feel the same way? Anything exciting on your calendar or are you in … Continue reading Links: Quilt Shows, Kresley Cole, & More →
Hi, everyone! How’s it going? My partner and I recently celebrated our anniversary in two parts. Part one: finding a cool local cocktail bar that serves gourmet hot dogs and grilled cheese. Part two: eating a charcuterie spread in bed while we watched Dropout programming. Hell yeah! I also left my phone at home and was left alone with my thoughts on my commute. However, we’ve started doing Planning Tuesdays, where we dedicate an hour or so on Tuesday evenings to whittle … Continue reading Links: Bridgerton, Clay Crafts, & More →
Welcome to Wednesday Links! How are you all? My partner and I hit up two apple orchards for our continued quest for the best apple cider donut in New England. I also had the opportunity to make my apple butterscotch pie and it turned out wonderfully! What are you Halloween plans? My partner’s friend and neighbor is having a get together. We’re wearing a couple’s costume: San and Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke. We saw the movie … Continue reading Links: Cats, Dioramas, & More →
Kitschy Crafts: A Celebration of Overlooked 20th Century Crafts is fun on multiple levels. This book is short but full of photos and projects, including instructions. It covers such delights as pin-beaded fruit, latch hook wall hangings, and crocheted toilet paper covers. Why, yes, it does include macrame. It also includes staples like needlework and embroidery, as well as things I never knew existed. Resin grapes? Really? This book defines “kitsch” as “any decoration that takes … Continue reading Kitschy Crafts by Jo Packham and Matt Shay →
