RECOMMENDED: The Rook by Daniel O’Malley $2.99 and part of today’s KDD offerings. Carrie loves the series, especially the sequelStiletto. It’s urban fantasy set in London with a badass cast of characters. But some found the book to have a lot of info-dumping. Have you read The Rook?
Love and Other Scandals by Caroline Linden is $2.99! Several of Linden’s books are on sale. This is book one in the Scandalous series, which is described on Goodreads thusly: “A series in which a shocking book—Fifty Shades of Grey for the Regency era—has all of London talking and gives more than one young miss a mind for scandal.”
RECOMMENDED: This Side of Murder by Anna Lee Huber is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal, but isn’t being price-matched yet. Sarah has been a huge fan of Huber’s historical mysteries and had this to say:
If you like smart, clever, extremely competent women sleuths with a handful of secrets and a crap ton of inner resilience this is a terrific start to a mystery series. Good for fans of Huber’s other series, and of historical mysteries.
If you’re new to Hide Your Wallet, this is where we list new releases we’re pretty excited for in the coming month. Each reviewer has a book maximum (five per person), but we’ve separated HYW into two parts. The first HYW of the month will cover books that release from the 1st to the 14th. The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading June’s New Releases, Part Two→
RECOMMENDED: Wrong to Need You by Alisha Rai is $3.99! This is the notorious cat pee book. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, read Elyse’s review: I do not think I can possibly endorse Wrong to Need You more strongly than “it will make you forget you’re sitting in cat pee,” but if I could, I would, because this book is everything wonderful. It’s angsty and cathartic and sexy…
RECOMMENDED: Act Like It by Lucy Parker is $1.99! If you haven’t read this yet, it was one of Sarah’s favorite reads in the past couple years. She says, “I mean, I could squee at you some MORE beyond my review but I think you’ve heard me already. I loved this book. You should read it. It’s delightful.”
Slightly Married by Mary Balogh is $2.99! This is the first book in the Bedwyn Saga, which is a favorite amongst romance readers. Though Balogh’s newer historicals haven’t really worked for me, I’m curious about this one. Have you read it?
If you are looking for a romance with a traditional HEA, this might not work for you. However, as an adventure story it’s great, and the HEA is fine if you are able to be a little bit flexible about what that means.
Buckle in for some Cover Snark! Amanda: Neither party looks thrilled about this sextuplet surprise. Carrie: Every single thing about this cover hurts me. Tara: I refuse to believe anyone pregnant with sextuplets would have the energy to put on that much makeup. I couldn’t be bothered when I was pregnant and I had singletons. Maya: She’s got a classic who farted face on and I guess there are a lot of people to choose … Continue reading Cover Snark: Wait, How Many Babies?→
RECOMMENDED: Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik is $1.99! This is a sci-fi romance that released earlier this year and I absolutely loved it. You can read my A- here:
I am so incredibly happy that this book is in the world, especially after feeling like I’ve exhausted all my sci-fi romance options. Polaris Rising is exciting. It’s funny. It’s fan-fucking-tastic. My quibbles are minor in comparison to the joyful Good Book Noises I made while reading this.
RECOMMENDED: Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and it’s being price-matched. Elyse & I really enjoyed this horror/sci-fi novel. We jointly reviewed the book and ultimately decided on a B. We loved the cast of characters, but found the ending anticlimactic.
