
Firelight by Kristen Callihan is $1.99! This is the first book in the Darkest London series, a series that I mostly enjoy. In the first three books, the heroines are sisters and I’d rank them in their series order. The third is my least favorite, namely because it contains a lot of tropes that aren’t my thing. This book succeeds because Nettie is such a compelling character. Nettie is incredibly vibrant, prickly, compelling, flawed, exciting, and interesting. She’s compelling because all her experiences and aspects of her personality and her sharp mind come together to create a complex person who you just have to root for.

Named of the Dragon by Susanna Kearsley is $1.99! In true Kearsley fashion, this book has a little bit of everything – history, romance, mystery. Some readers say this book has a bit more of a Gothic edge than her other works, which they liked. But some felt it wasn’t as balanced of a story as they were used to. Have you read this one?
