The combination of personal catnip with descriptive language and complex characterization is spot on. I recommend this for fans of vocal feminism, found family, angst, and explicit sex in their historicals. I plan to read my copy many, many times!
Racked and Stacked by Lorelei James is $1.99! This is part of her Blacktop Cowboys series and can be read as a standalone. I’m more familiar with James’ erotic western romances, though I’m pretty sure this series isn’t as steamy as say her Rough Riders series.
RECOMMENDED: Omens by Kelley Armstrong is $1.99! Shoutout to Katie for letting me know about this one because I just finished this book very recently! This is the first book in a finished urban fantasy series and for the most part, I really liked it. It dragged in some spots, but I loved how I didn’t get all the answers about the mysterious Cainesville in the first book.
Over the years, I have read three Barbara Freethy books, the first of which, Golden Lies, came back into my life after a decade of searching because the Bitchery solved my HABO a few years ago. As a novel where there’s a bunch of crazysauce, I appreciated it. I do think the current trend in romance is lacking in crazysauce. There’s a lot that happens!
