40-Love by Olivia Dade

40-Love

40-Love is part of the Marysburg series by Olivia Dade. Shana and I both enjoyed this romance between a tennis player in his twenties and a forty-year-old high school assistant principal on vacation. The book glories in having a fat heroine and addresses issues including chronic pain, the challenge of reinventing oneself, inequities in the American school system, and navigating romance across an age gap. Despite all these topics, however, the book remains light and … Continue reading 40-Love by Olivia Dade

Recipe for Persuasion

Content warning: This book has ALL the triggers, and I’m a bit worried I’ve forgotten one, but here goes. Abusive/manipulative/neglectful/controlling parents. Alcoholism. Hero is orphaned at an early age and is not acknowledged by his father’s family. Plane crash. People who stress you out just showing up and letting themselves into your apartment to … Continue reading Recipe for Persuasion by Sonali Dev

If It Makes You Happy

Need You Now by Emma Douglas

Need You Now

This is a tricky reading niche for me to fill, as I don’t often enjoy rock star romances, though that trope would be ideal for that particular tension. Since identifying and refining my reading catnip is an ever-evolving process, I keep looking for different settings in which that tension might … Continue reading Need You Now by Emma Douglas

Books on Sale: The Marriage Contract by Katee Robert & More

RECOMMENDED: The Marriage Contract by Katee Robert is $3.99! This is an arranged marriage plot in a modern setting, which I would love to see more of! The book does deal with characters in the mob, which I know is a big off-button for some readers, so FYI. Elyse’s review came out today and she gave it an A:

If you had told me that I’d really love a book about the children of two Boston mob bosses being in an arranged marriage, I’d have raised a skeptical eyebrow. But I’m so so glad that The Marriage Contract proved me wrong because I enjoyed it immensely.
