The hero is in debt to a wine merchant. To clear said debt, he agrees to marry the merchant’s daughter. As one does. She gets the hero’s social influence and the hero whittles down his debts. While readers loved the dialogue and tension between the characters, some felt the romantic emotion/passion between them to be a little lacking. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.
