The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers is $1.99! This scifi novel has been recommended and loved by many of my friends, and talked about highly in my book group. The book has some great queer representation, though readers remarked it’s more character driven than plot driven. And what a coincidence that it’s on sale as we just mentioned this in yesterday’s Whatcha Reading!

RECOMMENDED: Something About You by Julie James is $1.99! This is the very first James book I read and it’s the first in the FBI/US Attorney series. James does competence porn really well and this ranks high on my enemies to lovers catnip.

One Night with the Laird by Nicola Cornick is $1.99! The hero and heroine have had relations in the past and now the heroine needs the hero’s help, so there’s a second chance element. Readers say the sexytimes have a hint of BDSM to them (restraints), but that the villain was rather obvious.

RECOMMENDED: Scandal Never Sleeps by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake is $2.99! Elyse read this one and really enjoyed it, though she did find it hard to classify in terms of genre:

Content warning: Some reviewers warn that there is rape and torture as part of the heroine’s backstory.

RECOMMENDED: You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) by Felicia Day is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal, but isn’t being price-matched just yet. Carrie gave this one a B:
On the whole, I enjoyed this book. I read parts of it out loud, laughing, to my husband. I giggled frequently. I read the whole thing in a few hours. It’s a fun read with some very important things to say – take care of yourself, treat your mental health as seriously at you treat your physical health, don’t be afraid to make mistakes, and embrace your own weirdness and creativity. As a quick, light read, this is great.
