Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q. Sutanto is $1.99! This is book two in a series, with the first book being Dial A for Aunties. I definitely think these should be read in order as book two builds upon the events of the first.
Strange Love by Ann Aguirre is a shining example of just how good a romance novel can be, even if the hero has mandibles, and I recommend everyone go read it now.
It’s a doozy of a release week! There are lots of contemporary romances coming out, but some fantasy and sci-fi novels on our to-read and to-buy piles. A few of you have already mentioned some of these in the comments! What books are you excited for this week? Tell us all about them!
Strange Practice by Vivian Shaw is $2.99! I’ve been so curious about this one because the heroine is a “fast-talking doctor to the undead.” It sounds all sorts of awesome. I definitely bought this after the last time it was on sale. If you’ve read this one, let me know what you thought!
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern is $2.99! A lot of readers found this to be a highly anticipated release, given their previous love for Morgenstern’s The Night Circus. Aarya reviewed this one and gave it a B-.
The Lake House by Kate Morton is $1.99! This book has all sorts of elements: historical fiction, Gothic mystery, and a family saga. Elyse gave this book a B:
The Lake House had some issues–there is A LOT going on here, tons of threads to keep track of–but it totally sucked me in. Once the novel gets its momentum, it barrels at you like a freight train. Historical fiction and mystery fans might want to put this on hold at the local library, at least while it’s still in hardcover.
Party of Two by Jasmine Guillory is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance and I think one of the few Guillory’s we haven’t featured on sale before. Grab this one if you’re looking to collect the entire Guillory collection.
If you’re new to Hide Your Wallet, this is where we list new releases we’re pretty excited for in the coming month. Each reviewer has a book maximum (five per person), and we’ve separated HYW into two parts. The first HYW of the month will cover books that release from the 1st to the 14th. The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading April 2022 New Releases, Part One→
All of that is to say: if you stare at walls a lot right now and you can’t really read because everything is just too much all the time? You’re not alone. I get you. And if you want to try a book that gets it too, and will remind you that there can be light at the end of this god-awful tunnel, maybe try this one.
RECOMMENDED: Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen is $1.99! This is part of today’s 10-pages of fantasy and paranormal Kindle Daily Deals! I would liken this book to women’s fiction with a magical realism slant. It’s heartwarming and beautiful. I even wrote a Keeper Shelf squee for it; that’s how much I love this book.
The Beautiful Ones is a book that includes many genres, including fantasy, romance, manners, and just a little bit of Gothic. I enjoyed it more as a soap opera than a romance, but your mileage will vary depending on your interpretation of the characters.
